What happened to Jim Paymar on Ch. 2? He brought a firm, serious reporting style to the news, which WCBS lacks.

Another negative example of WCBS '06 v. '07. He was very good.

They got rid of him for the exact reasons you mentioned.

He is very good. I believe he was only there on a freelance basis. Now he is doing business reports on 770 AM WABC during the morning show Curtis and Kuby.

WCBS has perhaps the best political reporters in Marcia Kramer and Andrew Kirtzman. That duo is better than anyone on 4 and 7. And their Sunday show whether done together or separate when they alternated as hosts was the best locally produced political affairs program. So with the presidential campaign season in full swing (although very early) it makes sense that WCBS puts Kirtzman on as a general assignment reporter and the Sunday show is off the schedule. Not to mention that with Giuliani running for President, Kirtzman wrote a book that is considered an authority on his time as mayor.

This is the logic that is channel 2.

Funny you posted this, I was just thinking the other day whatever happened to Jim Paymar. That is too bad they got rid of him, seemed like a real good hire.

I miss Jim Paymar... he was so darn good! I loved how firm he was with his style... he didn't stumble like all these new imports (whether reporter or anchor)....

speaking of reporters, seems like Sean and Deborah are the new "lead" reporters. What happened to Hazel and Brendan? I hardly see them anymore.
