News 12 Long Island Twitter screw up accidentally reports Yankees win in ALDS Game 5

In a very interesting story on TVSpy, News 12 Long Island made an error Thursday night on its Twitter account, claiming the New York Yankees won Game 5 of the American League Division Series, before having to make a correction that the Yankees were in fact defeated by the Detroit Tigers 2-3, with the team's season ending at the hands of the Tigers.

News12 Long Island made a lot of New Yorkers happy last night when they reported, via their Twitter account, that the New York Yankees had defeated the Detroit Tigers to advance to the next round of the MLB postseason.

 

The only problem was that News 12 Long Island was a little too quick to call the game in favor of the Yankees, who lost 3-2 to the Tigers last night and were sent home for the season.

 

The station deleted the erroneous Tweet from their feed, quickly replacing it with two correct headlines: “SPORTS: New York Yankees eliminated from MLB playoffs by Detroit Tigers” and “Yankees whiff at home, season ends with Game 5 loss.”
