nynewslover 280 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Audrey Puente just tweeted this: "@AudreyPuente: In the @My9NewsTV Studio testing new HD cameras and I was just told to go see the makeup artist. #doilookthatbad http://t.co/ydC5CI95" I don't know when they will actually go to air in HD but I assume tonight or early next week.
Spring Rubber 716 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 How were they not in HD yet? Wow.
StudioTech 15 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 How were they not in HD yet? Wow. They only do about 2.5 hours of news a week, the least amount out of all the local newscasts. It only makes sense to upgrade if there are plans to expand the newscasts.

It only makes sense to upgrade if there are plans to expand the newscasts. If by expand the newscasts, do you mean My9 is going to restore or add its Saturday and Sunday night newscasts? If they air at 11pm, they're competing with the likes of 2, 4, 5, and 7. Is My9 still in Secaucus, New Jersey or have they moved in the New York City limits?
bhratbrat 437 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 My9 is still in Secaucus due to FCC requirements
nynewslover 280 Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 I'm hearing they will be in HD beginning on Monday.
Weeters 1969 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 How were they not in HD yet? Wow. Probably because FOX thought everyone would be a-OK with moving the station to NYC. This is probably a sign they're giving up on that.

It would give them a ratings boost and they could still focus on NJ.. So what was the big deal?
nynewsguru 1 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I believe they go HD this Monday. WWOR is licensed to Seacaucs, NJ and therefore it can't move to New York City for now. However, it is still pending a renewal from the FCC who seem to not be for New Jersey having their own local news stations. If the FCC doesn't renew My9's license in Seacacus than maybe than can move to New York but for now they are focusing on New Jersey because besides News 12, NJTV, and Fios1 there aren't any other New Jersey news stations or at least that I know of.
StudioTech 15 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Too bad the logo won't be updated, one of the ugliest in the industry.

It would give them a ratings boost and they could still focus on NJ.. So what was the big deal? The big deal was the politicians of New Jersey, namely U.S. House Representative Steve Rothman, whose district includes Secaucus and the My9 studios. Some reading on WWOR-TV's license situation, including links to other articles... http://www.newjerseynewsroom.com/movies/wwor-tv-ch-9-investigated-for-not-serving-nj-viewers
nynewslover 280 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 They're in HD tonight.. Logo is the same with a slight graphics update.
IceManNYR 240 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 My9 is HD at 10pm. The reports and b-roll are all 16:9. Like FOX5 the live reports are 16:9 SD. I'm not noticing the bad edge enhancement that the FOX5 live and taped reports have.
Geoffrey 873 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I think it looks weird how the logo goes below the lower-third... Why can't they be the same height? I also don't like the vertical line on the OTS but overall it looks sharp.

They fixed the bug so it fits in between the lower third, and WWOR has started showing all programming in widescreen since Wednesday.
groupwfan 97 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Too bad the logo won't be updated, one of the ugliest in the industry. They should bring back the 1987-95 logo and have it in a blue box (have the 9 CGI'ed.)
TennTV1983 807 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 They should bring back the 1987-95 logo and have it in a blue box (have the 9 CGI'ed.) You like the "Universal Nine" era, eh?
groupwfan 97 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 You like the "Universal Nine" era, eh? Heck to the yes.
