Didn't even know about this, but I can't say I'm honestly surprised. It is WGCL, after all.

No, CBS 46 brings back bad memories ("Atlanta's NewsChannel", anyone?). Meredith should honestly just sell the station, it hasn't been doing well at all since Tribune sold it to them in 1999.

If Meredith sells, CBS better buy. The only issue with this is Meredith uses WGCL as a Master Control hub for all their other properties and shockingly enough this is their flagship. :O

CBS has a better chance stripping the affiliation at WGCL and moving it to channel 69. I mean hell, it will be like CBS Detro... I mean... CBS 62, but it might pull in far better ratings than WGCL. Give WGCL the CW affiliation so it can be with it's own kind, in last place.

IF and it's my opinion, If WGCL should dump CBS and settle with the CW, CBS would move to WATL-36, in which means that Gannett would sell the station to CBS. WATL would get a new building, new set, and a better news operation with a new title; CBS 36 News. It's just my opinion.

Unlike WATL, WGCL (should I say channel 46) has possessed an established news operation since the 1980s thus would further confuse local viewers if it moved to channel 36. CBS ought to just buy WGCL make it into an O&O and form a duopoly with WUPA. CBS already has the top billing and leading radio station in the market, WVEE (V-103), so them buying WGCL and investing into the station would create some form of market 'synergy'.

Branding wise, WGCL needs to change its call letters back to legendary "WGNX" and call itself "CBS Atlanta, WGNX 46" like they did back in the mid 90s after they first became a CBS affiliate.

CBS 69? Good God.
