FOX Television: Entertainment (Liberal) and News (conservative), Is that true?

It is true what they are saying about FOX Television?

1) The Broadcast Side of FOX - the Entertainment Division - being all liberal with their shows: sex appeal, violence-packed action, raunchy humor, etc.

2) But, the Cable Side of FOX - the News Department (a.k.a. FOX News Channel) - Being All Conservative

IF All That's True: post some links for information about how Rupert Murdoch is running the FOX Family of Networks in America.

uhhhh look at it for yourself, FOX brought us such hits like "Temptation Island" where people who were tied down in a relationship were encouraged by hidden cameras and alcohol to have sex in public, or "Stacked" which is named after its main star's chest. and then watch 10 seconds of bill oreilley.

Or you can go to the American Family Association website. Donald Wildmon, AFA founder, routinely appeared on O'Reilly's show during the "war on Christmas" crusade. Wildmon and O'Reilly both believed that the securalists were taking over the holiday.

Now, go to AFA's list of shows that they consider vulgar, offensive and non-family friendly. THE SHIELD, NIP/TUCK and DIRT all made the list. And AFA has a hit list out on companies that advertise on these shows.

So, the news operations and the entertainment operations seem to operate on two different plains.

matt.

Just like I said in the other thread, they operate on one plan: what makes the most money. There was a niche for 'edgier' entertainment programming; they filled it. There was a niche for a 'news' network with a conservative slant; they filled it. It's really not a whole lot more complicated than that.

Yep. That's a double standard for you.

I agree 100% with you guys. Here's the main point:

From the start of the network to the start of cable news, Rupert Murdoch is giving people what they want.

For Fox: His main idea was to be a rebel network against the conservative programming with raunchier programming like Married with Children.

For FNC: Same as above, only in reverse, exploiting the views of the conservative Christian groups.

Bottom line: Ratings. It worked then, it works now. Why do you think Bill O was on an episode of MadTV, when they did a spoof on "American Idol." (True Story.) Ratings. Why do you think your local Fox O&O is embracing the "Dark Side?" Ratings. Why do you think Roger "The Hutt" Ailes is running both cable and TV news. Ratings.
