TVSpy reporting that two anchor/reporters at Wiegel's WDJT-Milwaukee are alleging the station discriminates against minorities.

Shari Dunn lawsuit claims WDJT & Wiegel have "“a culture of discrimination where white males are favored over minority females.”" Also says she was retaliated against when she brought up her concerns to management.

Seperately, Carlos Vergara, an anchor/reporter at Telemundo Wisconsin (operated by WDJT and apparently shares a newsroom) says he was denied an opportunity to anchor at WDJT in favor of less-experienced people who speak only english.

Also alleges WDJT GM refers to Latino's as "illegal aliens" that they don't care about.

Both have filed complaints with the EEOC

Both suits probably have merit. Tough to prove. WDJT has had management issues for years. Maybe this will be what pushes corporate to push the ND and GM out the door finally.

The station really just needs to be sold to a company that knows how to run a news operation. That is definitely not Weigel. Stick to your diginets.

Found a blog that had more details about the Carlos Vergara situation. Very interesting.

I've seen a report of a news photographer at 58 resigning abruptly yesterday after only 9 months at the station. Additionally, a number of the jobs posted on their website have been open most, if not all of the summer.

What is going on over there???

There have been rumors for a while in the Milwaukee TV scene about WDJT not being the most stable work environment, but all this news coming out in such a short amount of time certainly puts it all out there for the public to see.

WDJT really misses their former ND Grant Uitti.

WDJT's longtime GM used to be the chief engineer at WVTV. that somehow got into the job at 58 after Weigel fired the first management team 3 months into the news operation in 1996.

Jim Hall was the Chief Engineer at WDJT, too, until August 1996, when the GM and CSD were fired. Here's a newspaper article about it. His "fill in" role became permanent eventually.

Despite running four stations he still finds time to get out and do engineering duties. He can be seen

(in the white) assisting with the assembly of transmission antennas.
