Both KCEN & KAGS switched their graphics today. No grabs of the open, because I don't think either station live streams.

KCEN: http://www.kcentv.com/category/170056/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=11265213

Hey, KCEN is the only station so far to actually EXPLAIN on how to format your TV for the graphics.

...and with a graphic on where to find the button on your remote!

For what it's worth, KCEN, and KYTX were still broadcasting 4x3 to their cable and satellite providers. They had to have them change it to 16x9 and letterbox their streams so their graphics wouldn't be cut off at broadcast.

Probably also a reason the open of KCEN still shows "HD"?

Ugh... It's 2015 and they've been in HD for years. No need to continue to remind viewers of this. But it's Gannett, what do you expect? Oh wait, after they took over their slogan is now "Start Here, Expect More"..:

Only the best for Gannett! :D

Are they the only ones in HD? So much ambiguity through the market's different wiki pages as who was first -- apparently everyone was.

WFMY seems to be the only other Gannett station that has the HD in their logo.

So...WKYC got some interesting graphics on their tease for the 11:00 newscast.. https://twitter.com/wkyc/status/583093637300428801

They've used these for a while in teases. They're BEAUTIFUL.

Is it possible that we may see new graphics coming in the near future?

Actually, Hothouse made them. Matt Quinn lives in Cleveland and HH does a lot of work for them.

Do you have any supporting evidence to demonstrate that Hothaus made them? I looked at LinkedIn and while, yes, I see that HotHaus is located in Cleveland, I'm not sure if I can necessarily say that for sure Hothaus made them.

Although, I'd suspect that you are right as WXIA is using a Hothaus package for a sales program.

And, furthermore, it baffles me why Gannett didn't use Hothaus to begin with instead of that secondary film company they built the package with.

The graphics generally fit HotHaus' style and here's proof they've done extensive work for WKYC in the G3.0 era.

Not to mention this WKYC promo look borrows heavily from the WPXI look that Hothaus worked on last year.

On the Gannett Digital Front:

1. Looks like all the ex-Belos have ditched their old MOBILE websites for the new Gannett version. The old websites, produced by doApp, were just web versions of their phone/tablet apps.

2. The old apps are now probably on their way out, to be replaced by the current Gannett apps. Right now, they've tweaked the current app to match the white color of the mobile sites.

3. Gannett took over one of Belo's old apps, the WeatherCaster app, and it is currently one of the highest rated weather apps on both iPhone and Android. Don't be surprised if it starts getting pushed to your nearest non-Belo Gannett station.

I may have contended that those were Blue Helio, but I'm not sure anymore. The motion graphics front is particularly blurry.

Thanks Remington, I agree! :)

And HotHaus are same guys who made the last Belo graphics before Belo was bought by Gannett.

If you're interested in KCEN's/KAGS' show opens...

KCEN:

KAGS:

I'm not quite sure why everyone is using the same music cut. Anywho, a slight change to our schedule - KIDY/KXVA will now roll these out on Wednesday, April 22.

I think for KCEN/KAGS, it's because that may be the only cut with the NBC three tones in it.
