rkolsen 1684 Posted April 2, 2014 Share Posted April 2, 2014 The 2013 Peabody Awards were announced and the local tv stations that received awards were: WBZ-TV in conjunction with WBZ-AM for their Boston Marathon Coverage; KING in Seattle exposing leaks in the Hanford Nuclear storage site, WTVF in Nashville investigating how the government wielded influence in sweetheart deals and no big contracts, and WVUE in New Orleans in conjunction with The Times-Picayune on campaign finance in Louisiana and how it put the peddlers and buyers on notice. On the national cable news and network side: CNN for their show Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Al Jazeera America received two for Faultlines: Haiti in the time of Cholera and also Made in Bangladesh, NBC News and NBCNews.com for their series In Plain Sight Poverty in America, BBC World News for reporting on Inside Syrias War, CBS This Morning (should be in conjunction with Charlie Rose) one on one interview with Syria's President Assad, ESPNs Outside The Lines: NFL At A Crossroads: Investigating a Health Crisis. PBS received several for their 180 Days in an American High School, The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross, Best Kept Secret, The Central Park Five, A Chefs Life, Frontline: A League of Denial on the NFLs Concussion Crisis, Great Performances, Independent Lens: How to Survive a Plague, Independent Lens: The House I Live In, Independent Lens: The Invisible War, Latino Americans,The Law In These Parts. HBO also had a few for Life According to Sam, Mea Culpa Maxima: Silence in the House of God and Six By Sondheim. Entertainment shows that received nominations include: Borgen, Breaking Bad, The Bridge, Broadchurch, House or Cards, Orange is The New Black, Orphan Black and Scandal.
