rkolsen 1684
The UK Met Office (UK equivalent of NWS/ NOAA) has lost their contract to provide day to day weather broadcasts for the BBC. The Met Office has been the BBC's weather forecaster since the BBC's inception. All meteorologists that appear on the BBC are employees of the met office. In order to provide value for the license fee payers the BBC has to but their weather forecasts up for contract ever so often. This time they hit an impasse and the contract is expected to go to a Dutch or New Zealand based company. I wonder why the BBC just doesn't produce their forecasts in house using data supplied by the Met Office - like what ITV does ? http://home.bt.com/news/uk-news/met-office-loses-bbc-weather-forecasting-contract-11363999646544 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14588-uks-met-office-loses-bbc-weather-contract/ Share on other sites
