AJClementeFan69 477 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Not sure if this is the appropriate forum but where are each of the big groups with regard to their station cap limits right now? Isn't Sinclair close to being capped out?

Isn't Sinclair close to being capped out?It pretty much is, though they had a little bit of room for KQUI but that's it. Tribune is also quite close to the cap limit. It could take full ownership of WTKR/WGNT, but after that they don't have much room to grow (if they will at all).
ns8401 965 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Scripps is at 21% ABC is at 23% Tribune is at 39% if I remember right. Sinclair is up there as well.
mre29 1575 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 How are you folks getting those numbers? Is there a list somewhere?
Thundershock MN 169 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Well if you are looking for a list TVNewsCheck's annual Top 30 should fit the bill. It's ranked by revenue generated for each station group. But, the "coverage" percentage listed for each station group is the percentage of national reach. The pecentages listed don't reflect the "UHF Discount." And, a couple other important things to note. First, this was published in June 2015. So, it doesn't reflect the most recent DMA rankings released in September. Nor, does it reflect any acquisitions or devestures since then. But, it should be pretty close. Of course, you could always use the most recent Nielsen DMA rankings and total up each groups ranking manually. It's time consuming but, that's pretty much the best way to go if you want accurate & up to date rankings.
