Now that the split between WHP and WLYH is complete ... and WLYH has new owners, they have new call letters ... WXBU-TV. CW that used to be on WLYH is now on WHP 21.3 (in HD) and WXBU-TV 15.1 is Grit TV. Yes. Grit.

My question tho is if they have new call letters how come on the legal ID they still show the old call letters?? Oh, and a new crappy logo too!!

I wish I was a millionaire ... I would buy them out and bring back ...

If a bit confused. Are they legit using the wrong calls at the top of the hour? Or, just the old logo?

The logo above on it's own wouldn't be a legit legal ID...it's missing the COL. An updated WXBU logo has been on the HSH page for awhile now. And, it looks like someone updated the logo on the WXBU Wikipedia page this afternoon so the hyperlink to the image in your original post now reflects the updated logo.

If they are using the old logo (w/ the WLYH calls) that's just sloppy. But, they can "brand" however they want. There are several stations that use "fictional" call signs in their branding. So, as long as they don't use the WLYH calls in the legal TOH id the FCC wouldn't care too much...they might tell them to stop/clean it up but, they likely wouldn't incur a fine. But, If they are making incorrect TOH ids the FCC might want to know about that.

The guidelines for what constitutes a "legal ID" are pretty lax. As long as they're running "WXBU 15 LANCASTER, PA" once an hour they're fine, and they can basically run whatever else they want the other 59 minutes in the hour.

And to be honest, the FCC is only going to care if another station complains, which is how they tend to operate these days.
