WAVY 10 Fan 233
Former 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer, who had worked on the news-magazine from 1970 until this March (with his retirement announced on Sunday's edition) has passed away http://money.cnn.com/2016/05/19/media/morley-safer-death/index.html?adkey=bn Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15133-rip-morley-safer/ Share on other sites
Eat News 4745
I bet his body just said "No News...No Life." When you are in the biz that long you need that daily fix. Death by acute news withdrawal. God Bless You...and thanks for the fine work. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15133-rip-morley-safer/#findComment-151614 Share on other sites

TheRob 937
Safer's health had sharply declined in recent weeks. I learned today that Safer bought a Bentley with the money he won in a poker game in the late '70s. Action Newsroom 1281
This is utterly devastating. He was simply a force on 60 Minutes. He was brilliant, sharp, funny, charming, serious, goofy and powerful all in one person. He knew how to ask questions and what to ask. And he was what 60 Minutes is as a news program. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15133-rip-morley-safer/#findComment-151621 Share on other sites
Action Newsroom 1281
It's really shocking that every time a 60 Minutes host/correspondent or commentator leaves, he dies. It's happened to Andy Rooney five years ago. And even though he didn't leave, Bob Simon died from injuries from a car accident last year. It's really heartbreaking to learn of this, and I'm kinda afraid of what could happen to the veteran 60M hosts that are still there. newsbot 271
Morley was wheelchair-bound when he attended Bob Simon's memorial last year. Inside Edition reported that he lingered long enough to watch the Sunday tribute broadcast and then said it was time to go.
