DMA rankings as far back as 1986 (or at least 1989-90)

Anybody know the DMA rankings as far back as 1986, or at least as far back as 1990, up to 2008? Markets have grown and shrunk over the years and I think this thread is a perfect opportunity to talk about how much markets grew and shrunk in that timeframe.

Also, I have one rule about this thread: No Lists Please! I don't want this thread get shut down because some people got the "bright idea" to list stuff down like a lot of threads (especially about stations) have

How can you possibly talk about DMA rankings of old without a list? A DMA ranking IS a list...

Sorry, I should've clarified what this thread was about earlier. I said that it would be a perfect opportunity to talk about how specific markets have grown and why, not listing DMA rankings, just knowing them can give you an idea how much the specific market grew or shrunk. For example, Detroit itself shrunk a lot, yet the market DMA is #13 (down 3 from 2005), probably because the metropolitan area isn't that dense (among other reasons), as opposed to Boston, and in 1996-1997 DFW was #8, but it was more evenly populated than most of the top 10 markets then, and even now (DMA #5) it's less dense than the other 4 in the top 5 largest markets, though, in recent years, it's getting pretty dense as well, as evidenced by the amout of traffic jams in rush hour there are starting to be (which are an issue many dense cities, including Dallas as of recently like I said, would have to deal with)

Neilsen rankings for 1994(starting on page 5) with Canada spliced in, too.

That's not entirely accurate, or at least I think it's not (I haven't seen the 94-95 DMA rankings at all) because as far as I know, Houston wasn't in the top 10 until Katrina struck and it got an influx of people from New Orleans as a direct result. But I will say this, Austin and Las Vegas in 94-95 were the size of Spokane now, but they were growing quickly
in 1986 Vegas was 59th now it's 40th. There were 600,000 in Clark county at the time. They predicted 1 million people by year 2000...but they hit 1 million somewhere around 1990.

(Someone needs to find an old SRDS book.)

Amazing how Kansas City has remained virtually unchanged for this many decades (consistently fluctuating between 31 and 33).
