Look Natalie was a fixture in Boston for a number of years, but the bottom line is that it was time to move on. Hanging on for years, after you should've been off the air is a bad thing. I mean c'mon people, I know you wanna have good journalistic reporting on the air, but this is T.V. and we don't need to see grandma doing the news!

its people with those kinds of views that has driven tv news to the tabloidish "infotainment" state it is in. i personally find it repulsive.

I agree alaskanews2. That's the stupidest thing I've heard. "Grandma doing the news"? Well what about "Grandpa" doing the news. Look at charlie gibson. He comes onto ABC World News tonite and the ratings jump and in the major demos. Give me experience versus some recent college grad who cant read a teleprompter.

Well said. If you were to ask anyone that watches television news they would tell you they prefer to see an experienced personality who knows the area and who can relate to the them, as opposed to someone who is green behind the ears and more worried about their appearance.

But don't you work at a tv station? So technically you have more experience than most people starting off. I am sure your concern will be for informing the viewers on the important news that matter to them. I can safely guess that the issues are more important than to you rather than trying to see if you need an extra pound of make-up on your face.

actually ill probably be putting less makeup on my face to make myself look older. we have a couple reporters who are in their early to mid 20's and they look younger than me with all of their makeup on

I hate the TV news double standard.....why do only female anchors have to look pretty....maybe some of us would like to see a good looking male anchor from time to time.

Discuss.

i dont find myself particularly bad looking...

Uhm...okay....anyway, are there any other responses to my statement about the double standards in TV News?

You are right Cfif, most men in the tv business don't take the time to look good. Maybe its because men are afraid they will be called a metrosexual (ryan seacrest ::D) or gay. I believe that if you are in television you should look as best as you can. I have heard of some male anchors that get manicures, facials, eyebrow waxes and other facial pamperings, but that is few and far between.

...and most of you straight guys here probably want someone with bigger boobs, blonder hair, and a sexier face. :D

Duh. ;D

It doesn't help all if they're unprofessional though. Case in point... WWAY's Kaci Christian. She's just a pretty face that reads the prompter.

but then im not focusing on the news... ;D

and i can see right through a pretty face, i know when they are just a talking head or not

Bottom line - the T.V. industry is changing everyday. Sometimes I feel like we're headed back to the 1970's,... where all they care about is the bubble headed bleach blond at 5 PM.

WCVB needs 2 things right now. Stability and credibility. Now that the old goat is out, put someone in there that people like and that people trust. If she happens to be pretty, that's a plus,... but don't put someone who people are gonna see through right from the word go. Work it baby, work it.

Not sure who you are referring to, but if it's Barbara Walters? I completely agree! Barbara Walters, for all her prudeness and all her exclusivity when it comes to so called, "great interviews," does nothing for the viewers of today. SHe is so out of touch with reality, and you can plainly see it on, "The View."

Her delivery is awful and half the time you can't even understand what the hell she is saying. I say give her the coupon for the early bird special, and push her out the door! Enough is enoug already. If I wanted to see Grandma on T.V. I would've punched up the old home movies already! Good Grief!

If you go on WCVB's You Tube channel, they have video of her farewell from the July 18th 6PM newscast. I viewed it last night and it was quite classy. Sorry, don't have the link on me at this time, but on the site.

Just a few thoughts:

1) I really don't know what people's problem is with this woman. She celebrated 35 years at one of the best TV stations in the nation. She litrally built with stations with her reports and then anchoring. She was like the Jim Gardner of Boston. I know, tacky reference, but you all know what I'm talking about. My point, show her some respect.

2) I wish her luck in her feature job, whatever it may be. But on a more serious note, with WCVB-TV recently going HD, do you think they played a reason a part of this?
