almostlive 4 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Does anyone have experience with a successful bird deterrent system?... Something to keep the feathered fiends off all those inviting perches that come with towers, guy wires, radomes and so on?
Eat News 4745 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 We had problems at KBEX with condors and bald eagles...and a bunch of other "protected species". We called these guys. http://airstrikebirdcontrol.com/ Problem solved...no birds were harmed...just scared the living Sh%T out of them.
ToriElectra 292 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I've seen retail stores put spikes up on potential perches to scare them off- try those.

compubit 675 Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Try getting skilled tower workers to get anywhere near that tower if it's covered in spikes. ...Unless that's how you roll. You also need to be careful (especially in cooler climes) that you aren't creating a place for ice to build up, and bring the whole tower crashing to the ground (or dropping ice-bombs on your weather guy out on the weather deck in sub-zero temps...). You also have to consider aerodynamics - the bigger and less smooth a surface is, the greater the chance of a wind-storm bringing a guy-wire or tower down... J
