The Start of a Trend?

KTVT and KXAS also both air 4pm newscasts. KXAS was the first with a 4pm news in the late 90's, KTVT became the second in 2000 but canceled '02 or '03 but came back in either late '03 or '04.

look above you ;) ::D i just said that same thing, except without the years.

ahh its just natural for him to post the same old information someone already has given. ::)

It wouldn't work in the Central time zones because 7 pm is when network prime time starts...plus you're only two hours from the 9 pm newscasts.

The trend in this time zone is adding 4 pm newscasts. WBRZ implemented one a few years ago, the only one in the Baton Rouge market. Biloxi's WLOX has "The 4 O'Clock Show"

Does anyone (besides Chicago) have a 4pm news in Central Time?

WBAY 2 (ABC) here in Green Bay has a 4pm newscast that also does very well ratings wise. I believe that it was #1 in May (beating Oprah on WFRV, Judge Judy on WLUK, and Ellen on WGBA).

WBAY had previously shown "Friends" repeats ("Seinfeld" before that), which never really could stand to compete with Oprah, so they decided to drop the "Friends" contract (which subsequently went to WIWB) and began their 4pm newscast in late 2005.

Houston's KTRK and KPRC both air 4pm newscasts. KPRC originated it in the market several years ago and KTRK followed suit in 2001 after Sally Jesse Rafael left the air (I think, though they may have had a show in between Sally leaving and the 4pm news debut). KPRC expaneded to an hour to compete against KTRK, but recently cut back to a half-hour because the ratings weren't there (Oprah on KHOU is #1 in the slot, followed by 13 Eyewitness News at 4).

Nashville's WKRN and WTVF both have a 4:00 newscast as well up against Oprah (of course) on WSMV.

Also in both of these markets, there are stations with hour-long 6:00pm newscasts. KTRK does very well against ET (KPRC) and Wheel (KHOU) with their hour-long newscast and Nashville's WSMV and WTVF have had hour-long 6pm newscasts since late the 70s and early 80s (WKRN counter programs with Wheel at 6:30 currently, but had ET in the slot prior).

Might have been Debroah Duncan that aired at 4 for a while right before they shifted her to 3 and then EYEWITNESS NEWS @ 4
