Pan-Californian news

I'm wondering if some of the other TV freaks on here could help me out. Is anyone aware of previous attempts to create some sort of pan-Californian news channel? The only thing I could think of was when NBC tried California Nonstop, but that never fully got off the ground.

I think, like me, they don't see that working at all. There's too many dissimilar areas in California to launch a news channel. Even if they did, it's wouldn't have the viewing capacity unless it was an indie owned channel.

The only one I could see would be the cable nets sharing, but Comcast seems to have no interest in doing news, and while Spectrum News 1 LA has hired a lot of PBSers and other serious journalists, they don't seem to be getting much traction.
