former newsboy 50
So much for that theory. If anything, I think not having it up there seems strange now - perhaps that accounts for the 31% drop in the ratings!
lazynetjunkie 34
Surprisingly, when FOX Chicago decided to dump the time/temp bug on their 9PM newscast almost a couple years back, they actually got e-mails from viewers wanting the time/temp back on the screen. Believe it or not, alot of people now actually consider the time on the screen during a newcast as one of their actual clocks at home. I find the time bug on a newscast more reliable/accurate than some of my own clocks here at home. After a power outage, I take a look at the time on the screen of a newscast to reset my clocks around the house. Having the time/temp bug in newscasts nowadays is important. kjohnson 15
An in St. Louis, the only station to do it on all of it's newscasts is KTVI. KMOV and KSDK run them only in the morning, and KPLR (and formerly KDNL) never do. Personally, I think that time & temp is handy to have on the screen. YoungstownTV 0
In Cleveland all stations have it on for every newscast. Just about a year ago WOIO was the only one to have the time, temp.

You might want to take a closer look. It's just the temperature on the 11pm news. All other newscasts include the time and temp.
