kdex86 66 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Isn't WBZ a CBS owned-and-operated station? Why would they air Saturday morning editions of "CBS Mornings" at 9 AM Eastern, when its larger-market siblings in NYC and Philadelphia (WCBS and KYW) air the program at 7 AM?
Abraham J. Simpson 317 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Because that works better for them?
bostonmediaguy 129 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 WBZ's Saturday morning newscast pre-dates its switch to CBS in January 1995. They have delayed every iteration of CBS' Saturday morning news program since it launched in 1997 (8:00 AM). I believe they actually truncated their morning newscast to accommodate. It was recently pushed back an additional hour (9:00 AM) when the FCC relaxed its E/I programming requirements. In essence, as @Abraham J. Simpson stated, it works better for them.
