WickedYoungMan 0
Really' date=' i can't get 23 in High Def, stupid Comcast. So I guess i'll watch it on 8 @ 11.[/quote'] Ironically that's who I'm watching it through! BTW this (the whole WISH going HD) was totally unexpected. Definitely. I had actually been waiting to hear them make an announcement on when they would go. I didn't catch the complete newscasts, are they announcing it as being in High Def like 13 is? who?cares 254
No they didn't mention anything about being in HD, i think this was the soft launch, on their website they said they won't go until Monday so maybe they are trying to work the kinks out, because Hoosier Friday Nights wasn't in HD. WTVF, IIRC, did the same thing on the Friday before their official launch back in February of '07. tyrannical bastard 3951
Our good-old "notorious" ABC affiliate in Pensacola is officially launching in HD TONIGHT. The Pensacola News Journal had an article in yesterday's paper about it. http://www.pnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008809060301 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2281-the-hd-news-thread/page/13/#findComment-40659 Share on other sites

Ntropolis 596
WLOS should be launching HD news soon, posts on the AVS Forum indicate they have started running "News13 HD" promos. tyrannical bastard 3951
meh. I guess I was expecting more, especially after seeing WSYX/WTTE several months ago. Other than the studio shots & graphics (including weather), everything else was in SD with sidebars. They even kept the old news ticker, but changed the color to black and kept it at its original aspect in the 4x3 zone. The set did look WAY better than the old one, especially the temporary set they've been on the past few months. Other than that, expect any other Sinclair station to look pretty similar to WEAR when they go HD. WTVF, IIRC, did the same thing on the Friday before their official launch back in February of '07. WHDH did the same on the day they launched. They did it soft at noon & 4PM was the official. Though that day and to this day they rarely mention HD. And what is WEAR's Fish tank? Their set? jestbiteme 13
Here are a few. Video to follow (did not catch an open, but a few transitions. And the wipes between teases? Yeech!) Truthfully, I would switch to watching WTAE if they would get away from that godawful Gilmer theme. Attaching as opposed to Flickr, so you can get the full quality image. The verdict? Overall, I'm pleased. WTAE isn't over-hyping the HD thing. While I wish I had captured an open, I enjoy what I have seen so far. It's clean, compact and even a little classy. A huge step-up from the TAG look. They did, however, quash my pipe-dream of a move to the new Gari H-A theme. Like you said it isn't over-hyped like sister station KMBC which puts a huge honking HD logo next to the "9" logo. This does seem to be a modification of WESH's HD graphics which were very nice. Now if they get rid of that awful "where you come first" slogan and reconfigure the newscasts. I might start watching it again when I'm back in Pittsburgh. TennTV1983 804
WSMV went HD yesterday; however, there weren't many significant changes to the graphics (with the exception of the open and the weather graphics). I did spot a couple of problems: 1. Their new 4HD bug sits too low (doesn't quite match up with the lower 3rds). I did call it ugly, but they had since cleaned it up. 2. Overscan issues. Que 73
Who thought green would work for that station?! They should change the green to a yellow, to better fit the station's logo.
