former newsboy 52
Robert Feder has a complete run-down of all the Chicago TV anchor jobs up for grabs in today's Sun-Times. http://www.suntimes.com/business/feder/849540,CST-FIN-feder19.article And there are lots of em. Most notably about the article (IMO) are some new details he offers up about Diann Burns' all but certain departure from CBS 2. According to Feder, not only is Burns' agent/husband, Marc Watts, "busy shopping his No. 1 client", but also "insiders say a change in the 10 p.m. anchor lineup could come as early as June, when Channel 2 unveils its brand new studios in the Loop". Like a geek, I was watching Dan's Daily Briefing the other day and he mentioned the station hopes to move into their new home at Block 37 this summer. I guess he means June. So if the plan is to start fresh at the new building with a new 10PM line-up, might that mean even more than replacing Burns? June's also when Mark Suppelsa's 90-day non-compete is up - could that be perfect timing? And, though we've speculated before, who would replace Diann Burns? I can't see Joe Ahern putting an out-of-towner like Anne State practically right on the 10PM news. This not only leaves Mary Ann Childers as the only viable choice, she IS the only viable choice. It's gonna be interesting... Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3335-todays-feder-column/ Share on other sites

I don't think they would want to drag a trail of devasting rating numbers from 630 McClurg to Block 37. If Suppelsa does go to Channel 2 and if he does pair up with Mary Ann, I will gaurantee you that they will be neck and neck or become #2 behind Channel 5 on the 10pm Newscast during the July or November books. Amra 171
But the question is, will Rob hit the axe too or pair him up with Mary Ann Childers at 6 & 10PM and Mark Suppelsa with Anne State for 5 o clock show. And how about extending the 6 o clock news into a full hour? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3335-todays-feder-column/#findComment-29903 Share on other sites
lazynetjunkie 34
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet.. In today's Feder (http://www.suntimes.com/business/feder/851304,feder031908b.article), Ryan Baker is leaving NBC 5 and is coming to CBS 2 as weekday morning sports anchor. lazynetjunkie 34
And how about extending the 6 o clock news into a full hour? Can't do that. Entertainment Tonight has to remain in the 6:00-7:00PM hour block. Link 3
They should do an hour long newscast from 5-6pm like they used to on channel 2 with the CBS Evening News back at 6pm. This would give Chicago a local newscast from 5:30-6:00pm. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3335-todays-feder-column/#findComment-30431 Share on other sites
