lazynetjunkie 34 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Any word about KOVR? Just google "KOVR layoffs" and you'll find out for yourself. I can say it appears they were hit hard.
Que 73 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 KTVT lost Robert Riggs (Investigator Reporter), Maria Arita (4pm Anchor), and others. I actually liked Maria at 4. I found the KTVT 4pm newscast more watchable than KXAS.
Bars-n-tone 39 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Not sure how badly they were hit though... Speaking as my coworkers disappear around me, the CBS O&Os are being walloped pretty bad. It's a scary time; this came out of the blue. It is unlikely that the Eye is finished cutting. Other TV boards can tell you how badly they are cutting at the network level as well, including Newspath.
minnesotan 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 At WCCO, John Reger was the only anchor who was released from his contract (so far...). Paul Douglas, the main weatherman at wcco, just got laid off. I'm not sure what they are thinking, since the weekend weatherman is really old. Presumably, they will either need to hire another weatherman soon, if not now.

However, no need to worry about Paul. He sold his company a couple years ago for 45 million dollars and he still has that money. He pretty much told CBS to kiss his ass when he walked out the door.
Tyler 151 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 A PG article about Don Cannon's layoff: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08127/879329-237.stm
leach 0 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Denver's KCNC laid off a large number of people as well ( mainly people behind the scenes and I think one weatherman ) YET KCNC recently hired a new full-time female anchor for their evening newscasts and rumor has it around Denver that KCNC is paying her nearly 100 K. If this is true, it does not make sense. Lay people off to save big bucks AND at the same time pay big bucks for a new anchor.
