mattr 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Anyone know what happened to CBS EN going HD in June? Sorry if this is a repeat thread..can't find the original..
DMA 136 Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6576275.html?desc=topstory Seems very impressive.
YoungstownTV 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 July 28. I guess so. During tonight's CBS Evening News, Russ Mitchell was on The Early Show set and said "Studio 47 is getting an update" or something like that.
DMA 136 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 WCBS did a segment with Katie Couric. I'm linking the image since it's so large. It looks pretty good, I like the new backdrop. http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/9762/eyetvsnapshot65vy3.jpg
swillh2k2 206 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/07/28/couricandco/entry4301173.shtml Main changes seem to be brighter colors on the backdrop. Looks like a new finish on the desk too.
DMA 136 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Some problems in NYC. WCBS started in HD, with no audio, then switched to SD, with audio, then HD for like 2 seconds,w/o audio, and now it's in SD...
newsie 11 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I noticed a very, very slight change in the L3s, but it is very slight.
tyrannical bastard 4084 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Same in Dallas. I can say the same for Mobile, Alabama. It must have happened on the national ET/CT feed.
WXmanTim 88 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 People still watch CBS Evening News? The mind boggles...
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 bottom line, people--shit happens...especially when you have new shit...I'm sure they weren't happy, either...
l14dap 1 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I can say the same for Mobile' date=' Alabama. It must have happened on the national ET/CT feed.[/quote'] In Tucson, Arizona, the entire broadcast is in SD, but on the HD channel you can see some blue on the sides during field reports (HD sidebars?!?) Until I came on here, I thought maybe it was an issue with our local CBS affiliate since they've been known to show HD programming in SD for segments at a time. Guess not...
who?cares 256 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 by now we all know this is a national issue, but i can say there was problems in Indy as well.
TennTV1983 811 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I can say the same for Mobile' date=' Alabama. It must have happened on the national ET/CT feed.[/quote']It happened in Memphis as well. No audio on the HD feed, but then they switched to SD and didn't return to HD until near the end of the broadcast. Hope they don't run into the same problems on The Early Show tomorrow or whenever they go HD.
Ntropolis 600 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 It happened in Memphis as well. No audio on the HD feed, but then they switched to SD and didn't return to HD until near the end of the broadcast. Exactly the same thing that happened here... I guess the DOC in Norfolk handled everything the same for the Local TV CBS stations. Was this the same case in Oklahoma City, Ft. Smith, and Huntsville?
TSSZNews 1053 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 You gotta wonder if there will be an apology on tonight's news, given how much it was hyped up (Katie even did a story on the HD transition being a big deal--I had to laugh.) -T
TrfRptr 3 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Dolby Digital problem. Apparently a metadata inserter crapped out or something. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/ca6582471.html
clind 2 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I know this is horrible to say, and please forgive me, but Katie really looks quite old in that picture. Not sure if it's just because of it being a still, but the pose just looks horrible.
thafernykid 2 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I think it's the pose. Watched her today and she doesn't look all that old.
