WABC 6pm cold open on Mon. 9/15

Did anyone else notice that Monday's 6pm edition of Eyewitness News used a cold open -- that is, just a bumper with Liz doing a v/o of the top stories tease (stock market crash and Hurricane Ike clean-up in Texas) and then cut straight to Bill & Liz's "Good evening...."

I wonder if they tossed the open in favor of more news coverage, had some sort of tech. glitch and ditched the open at the last minute or are now scrapping the 6pm open altogether.

That is actually what they used to do back in the 90s when Roz was there. She would say "The news continues with so and so anchor..."

So perhaps they are returning to that format or it could just be a temporary thing to save time. Or they may perhaps scrap the 6PM altogether just like what they did in the Late 90s and Early 2000s (1997-2003) when Roz was there. We'll see what happens today. ;)

Looks like it was just a one day thing.

And, by the way, they never scrapped the 6pm open when Roz was there. Her famous "the news continues now with Bill Beutel" led to a tease of the 6pm news done by Bill Beutel (and later Bill & Diana) followed by a short commercial break and then the 6pm intro.
