Neilium 0 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I hear that Nexstar is taking over management of a tv station a few friends of mine work for. Anyone work for them? Anything good, bad? No official word yet on if they are its just kinda rumors at the moment.
Marvin Dillweed 74 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Nexstar is taking over management operations of Four Points TV Group, which includes KUTV/KUSG Salt Lake City, KEYE/Austin, WTVX/WTCN-CA/WWHB-CA/West Palm Beach, and WLWC/Providence. http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/stories/2009/03/23/daily4.html
FirstNews8 13 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Yeah, there website names are very weird, and long...like WMBDs is centralillinoisproud.com... they also use AccuWeather (CrappuWeather) for there weather graphics systems, which in my opinion is extremely cheap.
blueflag 0 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Not necessarily.... Just off the top of my head, KARK uses WSI and KRBC uses Weather Central. Though friends who worked at their Lubbock duopoly were duly bent when they dumped WSI for AccuWeather.

I've never heard anything positive about Nexstar.
who?cares 255 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 WTWO is owned by Nexstar. They are cheap, and the their reporters are also photographers. Such as their weatherman, also videographs (new word) high school sports.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 One-man-banding is commonplace in small markets...
Link 3 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Nexstar is cheap. Two of the local stations in my hometown area are managed by them and one is still working on a decent HD over the air signal...their analog signals left A LOT to be desired and I have a feeling their digital signals are going to be the same way. I hate their station branding and logos and their website domains are way too long. It was a lot simpler when they used the staiton call letters.
jero23 105 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Why 'o why? Four Points should have handed their management to somebody would would care for these former CBS O&Os. I actually like the current looks for KEYE and KUTV since their looks are similar to their former O&O mandates yet unique. I'm dreading what their branding and graphics will look like after Nexstar get their retarded hands on theses stations...
socalnewsguy 11 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Literally all of the stations in my region are owned by Nexstar. KRBC, KTAB, KLST, and KSAN. Does Nexstar put any funding into their stations at all? I mean, for the most part, the broadcasts out here are terrible.
bearlythere78 0 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Look at KBTV's website. cluttered with so much garbage you can't even understand it. ever since they bought that station they have dragged it down even further. Call letters changed almost immediately after takeover...tenured anchors and reporters shown the door without so much as a thanks for your service, moved the studios into a shopping mall...of all places. hired a bunch of Lamar University dropouts...um..i mean graduates fresh out of college with either none or very little experience. the only one worth a damn there is Dana Melancon as their chief Met...and he's been there since the early 80's. hell, they couldn't even keep NBC there...they had to switch to FOX after over 50 years with NBC.
