WBREEYEWITNESSNEWS 1
From WNEP-TV's Facebook Page... WNEP continues to add to its daily news coverage, launching Newswatch 16 at 4 beginning September 8. The 30-minute weekday afternoon show will be anchored and produced by Norm Jones, with Chief Meteorologist Tom Clark with the Stormtacker 16 Forecast. The newscast will feature the first look at the day’s news from around Northeastern and Central, Pennsylvania, national and world news, as well as new franchises. With the addition of this newscast, WNEP will now be producing 8 hours of news a day, Monday through Friday. “As stations continue to veer away from syndicated material and look to local news, Newswatch16 will continue to look for more opportunities to bring our loyal viewer base the information they want and need,” said WNEP News Director Erik Schrader. On September 8, the syndicated show “Millionaire” with Meredith Vieira will move to 4:30 pm. “Deal or No Deal” will no longer be seen on WNEP. ..as if they didnt have enough news programs In case you didnt know... 5-7 AM-WNEP This Morning 7-9am WNEP 2 Noon-Newswatch 16@Noon 5-630-Newswatch 16 7pm-Newswatch 16@7pm 11pm Newswatch 16@ 11pm -------------------------------------------------------------------- Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5642-newswatch-16-wnep-tv-to-launch-400-newscast/ Share on other sites

newsguy22 59
No...that theme so old..Trash it and get something good.. I say keep it. While I would not go so far as to say that particular theme keeps WNEP at the top of the ratings, I do believe the combo of a long-lasting music score, the look of a station, the longevity of anchors, combined with many other factors, breeds a great deal of familiarity. That feeling is what keeps people coming back day after day to watch. That theme is just one piece of a large puzzle, but if it's working, why change it? Remember, the average viewer doesn't think, "Gee, I'd like channel XX more if they used more trumpets in their tease bumpers.". They hear or see something familiar, they feel comfortable, there is trust. They come back for more. And now, carefully, I will step off my soapbox. NewsJunkie247 1
I think WNEP does need to change their music. If they are going to keep the name "Newswatch", they should atleast update their theme! People would probably rather see the theme change than the name because "Newswatch" is identified by so many in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.
