SterlingNorth 33
All changes begin next Monday, 9/14. WRC (NBC4) will launch a 3pm Newscast to replace Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil is jumping stations to WTTG (Fox 5) to air at 11am and 3pm. WRC already airs local news from 4-7pm. WTTG is shifting its 11am newscast to air instead at 9am, thus running morning news from 5am (4:55am) to 10am, five continuous hours. WUSA, to make room for a relocated Guiding Light (to become a game show block), will cut its 9am news cast to run only a half hour from 9 to 9:30am. It currently runs a full hour. It will move Inside Edition from 10:30am to 9:30am. The 10am airing of The Insider will not be replaced. This broadcast is actually the second broadcast of the show. The first generally airs late night/early morning at 1:37am. Thus currently The Insider airs on the day after transmission. WUSA is moving Guiding Light from 3pm to 10am to make room for Dr. Oz. It appears they will continue to clear CBS its game show hour at 10 am following the conclusion of Guiding Light, using the alternate am feed. TVNewsLover 782
Wow, I always thought it was dumb how WRC had an hour long 6pm newscast, and now this! Who will anchor the news part of the 3pm hour? So they will have news from 4:30am to 12noon, 3pm to 7:30pm, and 11pm to 11:35pm, including the network news (Early Today, Today, Nightly News). That's 12.5 hours of news (add in entertainment news show Access Hollywood two airings and it's 13.5!!!). WRC's line-up should look like this if you ask me: 5am-7am: News4 Today in Washington 7am-11am: Today 11am-12noon: Martha 12noon-12:30pm: News4 Midday 12:30pm-1pm: Deal or No Deal 1pm-2pm: Days of Our Lives 2pm-3pm: Bonnie Hunt 3pm-4pm: Ellen 4pm-5pm: News4 at 4pm (or LX Washington) 5pm-6pm: News4 at 5pm 6pm-6:30pm: News4 at 6pm 6:30pm-7pm: NBC Nightly News 7pm-7:30pm: Extra 7:30pm-8pm: Access Hollywood What happened at WJLA? Where has Maureen Bunyan gone, and is she coming back? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5776-local-dc-news-changes/#findComment-54115 Share on other sites
abric 181
She is semi-retired while she is working on her novel. She still anchors the 6pm news with Gordon Peterson.
