Perhaps he’s being shifted to handle noon and one of the evening shows to ease the burden off Lonnie, since Lonnie will also be handling duties on the mothership.

Just curious on a few things. Has Michelle ever been considered for any openings or is she comfortable on weekend AM? What about Toni Yates? Seems like she is the main weekend AM fill-in but no where else. Lastly, Lauren Glassberg. Was there any thought to putting her on weekend evenings, or is her anchor role only as a fill-in?

This is the 4th week in a row that Karen has been on the morning show but not at 10am. She is still in the open, but is left out of the close and no one is mentioned as being “in” for her. It seems like they’re moving towards a system where in addition to weekend AM, Peyton does Mon/Tues 10am and 12noon, and Brittany in addition to her weekend PM duties, does Wed-Fri 10am and 12noon.

NBC Considering Giving 10pm/9pm Back To Affiliates
TVNewsLover replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
I wonder if it makes sense to have local news on at 10pm, run national news at 10:30pm (perhaps ABC News Live Prime, NBC Top Story, CBS Daily Report), and have the late night talk shows come on at 11pm. I also think this would be an opportunity for the central and mountain time zones to have the same airing times from 8 to 10 PM, and let them program the 7 PM hour with syndicated fare. -
The Fox 29 News/Good Day Philadelphia Thread

I wonder if the reruns are moving to another channel. I would not be sad if they just went away. -
I could see Sandra retiring in a few years. She’s got to be in her mid 60s. At that point, it makes the most sense to have David/Liz do Noon/5pm, with Mike/Sade doing 4pm/6pm/11pm, giving each pair 2 hours of airtime. An alternative would be swapping the 4pm and 5pm between the pairs. As far as who gets top billing, it most definitely will be Sade, because she’s been with the station longer and on those respective shows longer.

Will they look to outside to fill Pedro’s spot on weekend mornings, or will Toni or Lauren be promoted?

Apparently CBS OVERNIGHT NEWS is no more. It’s been replaced by CBS NEWS ROUNDUP back in May

Anderson would have no problem handling lighter fare. He has filled in numerous times on Live with Kelly and Mark/Ryan, and he also hosts CNN New Year’s Eve coverage with Andy Cohen. If you’ve seen either of these programs, most or all of these programs tend to be lighter fair.

Has Caroline Goggin taken over Sunday mornings from Nydia Han? She’s been on a lot lately in that time slot. I’ve noticed Nydia is only on M-W on the 10am, even when she might appear on the 4pm on a Thursday. Wonder if it makes sense to take a “View” approach and add Maggie and Caroline as anchors on the show and just rotate which 3 ladies will be on each day. Lastly, noticed this week that Karen handled weather on the mornings, but Payton handled the 10am’s, and Chris/Brittany handled noon, with Adam and Cecily doing their normal shifts. Seems silly to have 5 of your 6 meteorologists in everyday.

I know she’s no longer at NBC, but I always thought it would’ve been a great idea to pair Chelsea Clinton with Jenna Bush Hager on the 4th hour.
-
I would venture to guess that it might have been unavailability by Charlesworth. If they were looking for bigger names they would’ve brought in David or Joe as well instead of Pedro. update: maybe you’re correct as Liz is on at 4pm too.

Radditz and Karl were both the leads. Speaking from someone who watched the coverage, it seemed like they lacked someone to lead the coverage and ask the questions of the commentators, which is the role they usually hold on nights like this. Whit seemed like the obvious choice to do so.
-
While I enjoy them as contributors during other coverage or as hosts on This Week, I do believe ABC would’ve benefited from having a stronger anchor leading coverage, such as George, Whit, or even Robin.

A lot of the larger affiliates carry the Judge Judy reruns in syndication in the afternoon. I could see them eventually going off their schedule giving affiliates that extra hour. The trick will be getting the affiliates to give back that hour to the network.

Weekend weather people used to do the entire weekend back to as late as the 90s. There are plenty of fill-in options for them with 5 full-time meteoroligists. No need for a part-timer. Disagree on the demotion part. He is still on weekday afternoons/evenings. Additionally, the 10 PM is on another channel. You say you’re adding another show to Cecily, but she’s got the least amount of airtime currently: Cecily: 1.5 daily, 7.5 weekly Adam: 2.5 daily, 12.5 weekly Karen: 4.0 daily, 20.0 weekly Brittany: 3.5 daily, 7.0 weekly (that does not include the average 3 noon shows she does which would make it 10.0 hours weekly) Chris: 4.0/4.5 daily, 8.5 weekly (that does not include the average 2 noon shows he does which would make it 10.5 hours weekly) Still makes more sense to have the weekend people split the noon shift if they don’t wanna add Adam there, as opposed to adding a sixth person. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Yes, it HAS to be it … except it’s not. Your comments often come off as snarky and know-it-all. It wouldn’t hurt to tone it down a bit.
-
Not sure it would be a demotion. He’d still be second in command and Cecily’s primary fill-in. Also, he’s got little kids so I’m sure he’d appreciate being home earlier.
-
Adam to noon makes most sense, so he’d be on noon, 4pm, 5:30pm, with Cecily on 5pm, 6pm, 10pm, 11pm. I could see Adam and Cecily swapping the 5:30pm and 6pm. Alternatively, it should otherwise be a rotation between Brittney and Payton.

Wonder if this was already in the works months ago and that’s why they hired Payton Domschke, to eventually take his place. 6abc seems to hire people for spots ahead of the vacancy.

Eight CBS Stations to Ditch CW and Go Independent This Fall
TVNewsLover replied to AKA's topic in General TV
I am not sure why people keep citing frequent preemptions because of the Florida Panthers deal. Most games start at 7 PM and are over either right at 10 PM or slightly before. So there should be a few preemptions if any at all. -
Yes! I think this is the majority view. Those who mentioned above how great he was are in the minority.

Sounds like Jim wants to be the main anchor but not come in at night. Not a fan of this setup. They should’ve given either the 6 or the noon to Jim & Melanie. Seems like the morning crew does 5 hours plus Jaciel at noon, and Rob and Wendy 2.5 hours, while Jim & Melanie just an hour. Not sure why they have a separate anchor at 8pm either. Just seems like it’s not the best use of your resources.

Obviously, this is your opinion only, as most Americans prefer GMA as evidenced by the ratings.

Trish Hartman co-anchored all the Saturday evening newscasts with Walter yesterday. Wonder if they are testing pairs with him to give him a permanent co-anchor or if this was a one off.
