Pedro did the first 15-20 minutes of the 10am from the newsroom (?), mentioning that he would join Shirleen and Brittany downstairs. At noon, the opening was skipped, there was no music, and newscast began with David teasing the top stories. He clearly was sick (as could be heard via his raspy voice) and was anchoring solo. Sounds like technical difficulties today and staff shortages.

Interesting fill-ins this weekend. After anchoring the 11pm Friday night, Mike filled in for Pedro on Saturday morning next to Toni Yates (in for Michelle), with Jeff doing weather for Dani. Jeff also did the weather Saturday night. On Sunday, Pedro was in for himself, next to Toni (in for Michelle), with Brittaney handling weather for Dani.

Wonder if they would consider bringing back Aaron Gilchrist to replace him.

I’ve always thought it made more sense to have it on at 9am right after the mothership. Most ABC affiliates air Live with Kelly and Mark then, which could easily move to 10am on the east coast. Tamron Hall (on a lot of ABC affiliates on east coast) could slide to 1pm, with GH at 2pm, and local news starting at 3pm. The issue would be the central/mountain/pacific time zones.

He is still featured in the weekend open along with fill-ins saying they are in for him.

After Midnight canceled; CBS leaves 12:30am slot
TVNewsLover replied to Horizon's topic in General TV
Technically, ABC does have two late night programs, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and NIGHTLINE, although one is a talk show and the other is a news program.- 32 replies

It wasn’t a big deal for Fox because they don’t have a national morning show competing against TODAY. ABC does have a national morning show, GMA, who often is neck and neck with the TODAY show in the ratings. That’s the difference here. Also, the morning program on 6 used to be referred to as NBC6 News Today in South Florida.
-
I also wonder if the ABC sub channel does indeed simulcast the newscasts, is the network gonna be all right with the morning program, Today in Florida, having the TODAY name in it?
-
ABC on Channel 7, it’s almost like it’s meant to be. I wonder if WPLG will make a play for the FOX affiliation when that agreement is up.
-
It’ll be Sade and then Mike. They usually list the most senior anchor first.
-
They really need to have a consistent Monday-Friday schedule. The inconsistency only serves to confuse viewers. If Rachael wants to work a one day a week schedule, let it be on Sunday night.
-
Unlikely scenario, but I’ve seen it done before. Could Mike continue to anchor the morning newscast as well? If so, Sandra would likely replace him at 10am.
-
I wonder what Mike’s other roles will be in addition to anchoring the 11pm. Will he report from the streets at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm? Will he sort of be a third “breaking news” anchor on those earlier shows? I’m surprised Bill didn’t step off one of the earlier shows too. Does anyone understand what Bill says at the 1:19 mark, right before “my brother”?

Would explain why Pedro was in for Mike this morning but did not say he was in for him.
-
Is the anchor switchup happening at that time too? I noticed on Friday that Mike was also in for Bill at 5PM, but Bill was on at 6PM. And interestingly, Pedro was off this morning.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News thread
TVNewsLover replied to bogusabc7breakingnews's topic in Los Angeles News
Looking ahead, I could see the station do the following: 5pm/11pm: Marc & Jovana 4pm/6pm: David & Coleen 11am/3pm: Phillip & Leslie Mornings: John & Rachel I have never been a fan of the three anchors in the morning. Although all three of them are great, the chemistry seems off - or maybe it feels off because there is three of them instead of two and it just feels too crowded. -
If we’re going off today, seems like she’ll likely ease her way back appearing only on the 11, while Sandra continues to fill in at 5.
-
Curious to know if she will still be doing the local cut ins on the days that she’s also handling the national weather.
-
Is the goal for Craig to still be a part of the third hour, or will they slowly transition him off and replace him there? Do they plan on bringing in a third “news anchor” (Craig’s previous role) or is Carson now filling that role?
-
If you read the article, the weekend version will be lighter fare, so there should be no heated arguments. I get it’s not your cup of tea, but the ratings and ad money still make it worth continuing the show.

https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/cbs-news-and-stations-adds-meteorologists-expands-ar-vr-tech/ For those concerned about John Elliott going away, by the sounds of this article sounds like he is staying put and taking on CBS Mornings Saturday duties.
-
I’ve already lost track of who is on when. Do they even have set schedules?
-
Wonder if that period where they were rotating Brittany and Peyton doing 10am and 12noon was a tryout to promote one of them there permanently, with the other and Robert being the weekenders. Having 4 meteorologists for weekdays only seems excessive to me, unless there’s an upcoming departure we don’t know about. 6 is known for hiring people’s replacements before they’re gone.

You don’t have to refer to me as ”the one person”, you can mention me by name. And I wouldn’t call it an obsession. That’s ironic coming from a board full of people with weird obsessions. Kudos to her for subbing twice at noon within a short period. I will try not to mention it ever again since some of you get butt hurt at the site of it.
-
I get what you are both saying. The complaint here isn’t that someone is off though, it’s that someone who is working couldn’t bother to anchor an additional hour.
