sctvhound 27 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 On Jan. 1, Macon, GA's WPGA (58) is dropping their ABC affiliation, due to disagreements about programming from the station owner, who doesn't like what his soap operas are showing. ABC will be going to a digital subchannel of WGXA (Fox), and they will start January 1 with programming there. Here is the article from the Macon Telegraph: http://www.macon.com/local/story/898170.html
Hometown News 59 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Epic fail on the part of the owner... aren't you required by the FCC to know the content of what the station you own is running? Also, just because the owner disagrees with homosexuality, doesn't mean that the viewers that bring money and ratings to the station share his views. He's ruined the station with this move.
newsfanatic 4 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 And yet Ellen Degeneres will still remain on the station's syndicated fare..... interesting.

Let me just ask, who watches RTV?
jero23 105 Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Some television owners are morons and always let their personal views ruin a station in an already small market.
Newshawk 2 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It's his station and he has the right to affiliate himself with whomever he wants to.
caliwxdude 254 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It's his station and he has the right to affiliate himself with whomever he wants to. Very true. In that same vein, Register also has the right to lose exorbitant amounts of money for rash decisions based upon his idiotic views.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I've heard through various people in the media from Macon that this is the owner's way of making himself look good here. ABC was charging the station more and more money to carry their programming, and he made no money, so he gave up...and called ABC "too gay".
kjohnson 17 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Of course you've got idiots like Ansin running stations in Boston. So it's all relative. He's a bonehead, and with no affiliation, the station in an economy like this will go dark in short order.
