ABC going away from WPGA

On Jan. 1, Macon, GA's WPGA (58) is dropping their ABC affiliation, due to disagreements about programming from the station owner, who doesn't like what his soap operas are showing.

 

ABC will be going to a digital subchannel of WGXA (Fox), and they will start January 1 with programming there.

Epic fail on the part of the owner... aren't you required by the FCC to know the content of what the station you own is running?

 

Also, just because the owner disagrees with homosexuality, doesn't mean that the viewers that bring money and ratings to the station share his views. He's ruined the station with this move.

I've heard through various people in the media from Macon that this is the owner's way of making himself look good here. ABC was charging the station more and more money to carry their programming, and he made no money, so he gave up...and called ABC "too gay".

Of course you've got idiots like Ansin running stations in Boston. So it's all relative. He's a bonehead, and with no affiliation, the station in an economy like this will go dark in short order.
