New FOX Chicago sports anchor

I'm surprised nobody beat me to this one.. FOX Chicago has a new permanent morning sports anchor for Good Day Chicago.. It's Lou Canellis. I was actually kinda hoping they would have brought Bruce Wolf back to where he belongs but Lou Canellis is a good choice. His bio isn't up at foxchicago.com yet. Lou has been on just about every station in Chicago and even more than one at the same time.. CLTV, ABC 7, CBS 2, Comcast SportsNet, etc.. I think other than the spanish stations, NBC 5 is the only station I haven't seen him on.

Lately, he's been on FOX Chicago's Final Word alot and has been a fill-in sports anchor alot too on FOX Chicago. I guess they figured they might as well keep him for good.

Lou has to be the only guy that can get away with talking about restaurants and fine dining one day and talking sports the next.

Yea I caught him on Good Day Chicago this morning. (one of the rare occurrences that I actually watch Fox) Is he freelance? Or is he actually hired by the station now? It surprised me that he did sports I've always seen him talking about restaurants and fine dining.

Earlier in the week, they mentioned on GDC that he's a new part of the morning crew and were making a big deal about him officially joining the station.. I don't think he's freelance with them anymore. But maybe he is. It's hard to say because I'm sure we'll still see him at other stations too. He's not one to have strict contracts like most on-air talent at stations.

Byron and the rest of the weekend crew officially welcomed Lou to the station "full-time" I want to say the weekend just prior to his start on GDC. They didn't say (or I missed it) that he would be joining the GDC crew however.

WFLD needed another sports anchor/reporter anyway and it makes since that it's him given he does the Bears GameDay/GameNight programs. He is someone viewers have become use to seeing on WFLD. I agree his contract is an open one which allows him to do stuff for Comcast like Jill sometimes does.
