squiggy 10 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 WRC-TV/NBC 4 in Washington has been broadcasting from a temporary set since Monday afternoon saying that their current set is being upgraded.
abric 181 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 They will be on that temporary set for a few weeks. They will probably be back in their other studio by March.
CLT-DCA-ORF-PTI 87 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Yeah, finally going to HD, I am guessing it will debut on the 1st when Daily Connection moves to 2 PM. Nice to see our NBC affiliates refreshing their looks!
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 They aren't getting rid of that hideous set though?
squiggy 10 Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 God I hope so. There's only so many times I can see the old MSNBC logo on a CRT monitor and continue to take Jim Vance seriously.
alaskanews 122 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 God I hope so. There's only so many times I can see the old MSNBC logo on a CRT monitor and continue to take Jim Vance seriously. That's your qualification for trusting someone?
squiggy 10 Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 That's your qualification for trusting someone? It becomes a distraction.
fox5news 0 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 From what I understand, they are getting a new set. They said "We are finally going to go 16X9 HD. Our new home is going to look incredible" on their 'News4 Today' Facebook page. I'd say that confirms a new set!
fox5news 0 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 A picture of their temp set is attached. It is cropped from their 4:3 SD snow closings screen, so those are not blue HD sidebars that you see on the left and right. They have had the temporary set for a few years from what I've seen. They mainly use it when they have a panel of people answering phones (which are usually on the desk), like recently a charity (I think it was the Red Cross, I might be wrong) used it for getting aid from area viewers for Haiti.
squiggy 10 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 t is cropped from their 4:3 SD snow closings screen, so those are not blue HD sidebars that you see on the left and right. It was rough watching them when they were in wall-to-wall coverage of the storm(s). Everyone else had glorious, glorious information scrolling everywhere while 4 had a their crappy 4:3 set squeezed down to pretty much nothing while they put up the ticket and useless sidebars. However, I think they saw the biggest increase in viewers during storm coverage, did they not?
jero23 105 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Does WRC-TV still stream their newscasts over the net? If so what is the link?
johnnya2k6 171 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 It's been like this for years: While the main news studio gets a makeover (probably for HD), they do the news temporarily from another studio or better yet, the newsroom.
