Geoff150 0
I'm in the car alot during the day and listen to WCBS Newsradio88. I thought I was hearing things the other day when Lonnie Quinn did the weather for the entire afternoon. The next day I heard John Elliot and Elise Finch. Is it a money saving move or are they just trying to get the most bang for their buck out of the people they already have on staff? IceManNYR 240
It's a cross promotion between WCBS TV and the NY CBS Radio Stations. It's being done with WFAN to. http://www.examiner.com/x-5468-NY-Media-Examiner~y2010m2d17-WFAN-set-to-use-WCBSTV-sports-anchors-to-promote-nightly-TV-reports "The password is synergy. CBS properties WFAN/660AM and Channel 2/WCBS-TV are ready to start a joint venture that will allow more publicity for the TV sportscasters and, in turn, both stations. Beginning next month, the all-sports radio station will employ WCBS sports anchors for the WFAN “20/20” sports update, each weeknight at 11 p.m." Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6272-wcbs-weather-people/#findComment-57709 Share on other sites
TellyGenic 33
Aren't those weather people at WCBS stretched thin enough, having to cover Megan Glaros' shifts while she's out on maternity leave? ProButtonPusher 230
Recording a 1 minute weather into a microphone is hardly being "stretched thin" Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6272-wcbs-weather-people/#findComment-57793 Share on other sites
Weeters 1916
WTMJ-TV shares weather people with WTMJ-AM. Most of the time, the top-of-the-hour updates are pre-recorded so it's not like they have to be in a certain place at a certain time. IceManNYR 240
If I'm correct WCBS-TV and WCBS-AM share the same building. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6272-wcbs-weather-people/#findComment-57796 Share on other sites
newsguy22 59
Recording a 1 minute weather into a microphone is hardly being "stretched thin" It doesn't take that long, really. We record 9 :30 second weather hits each morning for our four radio partners, the whole process takes ten minutes each morning, same for the afternoon weather hits. It's great exposure, well worth the time. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6272-wcbs-weather-people/#findComment-57797 Share on other sites
Geoffrey 861
From what I can tell, three of the six weather updates every hour are live. So every 20 minutes from 10-4, the weather anchor has to be in place. I'm not sure if they reuse the recorded updates.
