Jterry 43
It's that time of year, the 2010-2011 DMA list has been released: http://en-us.nielsen.com/content/dam/nielsen/en_us/documents/pdf/Misc/2010-2011%20DMA%20Ranks.pdf Biggest gains this year vs last go to Austin and Odessa-Midland TX which both moved up 4 (to 44 and 151, respectively). Several other markets moved up either 2 or 3 spots. A couple of really big losers this year though. Jackson, TN moved down 9 to 182, and Lima, OH lost a whopping 15 spots, going from 186 to 201. Panama City, FL lost 5 spots as well, dropping to 156. Only change in the top 20 was a switch between Miami-Ft. Lauderdale and Denver for the 16th and 17th spots. C Block 1488
I had a feeling that Miami and Denver would swap again. The difference between the two is only a few thousand households.
ProButtonPusher 230
Not sure how we lost 5 spots since the population here is growning every year, but maybe they're taking something else into account.
jero23 105
Uh oh, Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville is now in the top 25 and NBCU ought to feel mighty stupid about dumping WNCN-TV for sure. It might be the #3 news station there, but it has more ad potential now more than ever. San Diego is now #28 and Hartford is now #30. It's like twisted irony how that one NC market is jumping leaps and bounds over the former large markets like Hartford, San Diego.
