Ridiculous call letters

WHAM, WINK and KULR/KOLR come to mind the quickest, especially since all 4 use their call letters/word in their title. I'm sorry, but I cannot respect a news station called WHAM, WINK or KULR/KOLR News.

KING and KONG sound pretty ridiculous together, but separate I think they are fine.

What others are out there?

How about WAKA the CBS station in Montgomery Alabama.

Wasn't it Fozzy Bear who always used to say, "waka, waka, waka!!!"

I guess you are right Ntropolis, after all, WISH-TV was once the most repected news organization in central Indiana until WTHR dethroned them. It is a pretty unique name though.

My local PBS is WBRA.

It gets some jokes from time to time.

The BR is Blue Ridge but I don't know what the A is for.

I'm also going to agree with Ntropolis and say those kinds of calls are more clever than ridiculous.

And plus they're more memorable.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term viewer-supported.

Sorry, I just coultn't help myself.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned KAKE-TV in Wichita.

But aren't we glad there's never a WANK-TV (or WHAK) somewhere?

WNDS was pretty cool. Before it became myTV. I like the myTV idea, but even though, I'm from Boston, I always like hearing WNDS. Except they never said it as Winds but W-N-D-S.

But who thinks they are creative call signs too? Like WCVB... for Channel V Boston.

Also, WAKA is the noise Pac-Man makes.

WMAR is my favorite....it reminds me of MARlboro, my favorite kind of cigarettes, or my name of course.

Smoking is bad for you.
