Vlad 325
Well this is the first winter storm of 2011 and second overall of the winter season. And as usual, stations seem to be "over-covering" this storm system. Of course the biggest news maker will be how quickly it will take the City to remove all of the snow that will have fallen by this time tomorrow. Although its not supposed to be as strong as the Boxing Day Blizzard it is supposed to dump up to a feet of Snow (12") in New York City and perhaps a foot and a half (18") in most of Suffolk County and Eastern Nassau County. This is similar to the storm we had last year when Long Island took the brunt of the storm whilst the City was spared from the strong effects. Hopefully it won't be as bad of a disaster as it was 2 weeks ago with the snow still on the streets. WABC brought the cute promotion back with the elementary school students singing "No School Tomorrow" as most if not all of the school districts in the Tri-State Area with the exception of the NYC being closed. They also introduced the Road Cam which I still don't understand what its used for, my guess is to report road conditions whilst they are driving, but I still haven't seen it in use yet. Perhaps someone could shed some light onto it. Now on to the meteorological aspects of this storm, this Winter overall is shaping up to be an unusual winter especially since it is a La Nina year, most of these storms should technically past to the south, but that is not the case. This will be another Nor'easter again because it is bringing winds from the Northeast and it will be extremely cold behind the storm. Lets hope this one doesn't prove to be as crippling as the one we had two weeks ago.
