WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 And it looks pretty good although the intro voiceover is a direct ripoff of 3's intro.
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 wow its a lot different then WMAQ's. I kinda like it. With the night background. But im so use to a longer open.
Sam Horn 78 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 1. i like the visual 2. the vo sux. the whole "now............live!" thing bothers me
williamsvoice 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Yeah a blatant ripoff of a bad voiceover, gotta give you that. Nice job to use a little ingenuity, keying out the normal background and adding in Philly at night. Kudo on that.
ElliotJones 52 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 So, when will WCAU decide to get a high-quality picture of Philadelphia, rather than the awful one from their skycam? Whatever, it's still better than the cold open they had before. Oh, and nice top story. :
Sam Horn 78 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 So, when will WCAU decide to get a high-quality picture of Philadelphia, rather than the awful one from their skycam? 1. probably sometime in 2018 when they become the last philly news op to go hd after "philly's ionews"
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 I think this open is just a mere place holder til they go hd (and sam I heard that it'll be sooner rather than later).
Sam Horn 78 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I think this open is just a mere place holder til they go hd (and sam I heard that it'll be sooner rather than later). 1. are they updating the gfx at that point? b/c the current arthouse would look pretty ishy in hd, imho.

They would have to since this packageisn't HD compliant.
Sam Horn 78 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 They would have to since this packageisn't HD compliant. 1. what exactly is noncompliant about it?
WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 For starters it's only in the SD 4:3 aspect ratio.
Sam Horn 78 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 1. so i assume you mean everything but l3s and ots are non-compliant, right? 2. otherwise, i guess they're just going to go with the quick fix rather than something that actually makes them look better in hd

They would most likely adopt the WNBC HD package.

They would most likely adopt the WNBC HD package. The quick fix looks ok. Nothing overwhelming and the v/o is a rip-off. I hope they do something original when they go HD. I'm getting tired of seeing copycatting. They have the talent and know how to blow everyone away lookwise. I hope it's good when they roll out the whole new look.

WCAUTVNBC10 413 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 It's not like they had to pay for them. NBC has their own in house design shop for their O&Os.
Sam Horn 78 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 1. right, but still...i'm sure you know what i'm saying...
