IceManNYR 240
I find it was interesting that Maurice and Dana are on at 5pm and 6pm with Christine and Don off and Maurice is solo at 11pm. WCBS has no one else that can sub or are they just choosing not to? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/7219-wcbs-not-using-subs-this-week/ Share on other sites
JBGLC 0
I've been very confused by it too - might it be that they want the new "#1" 11pm newscast to be exclusive to Maurice / Kristine and never have subs? On a side note, has anyone noticed that Kristine is habitually absent several days a month. She was clearly sick at the end of last week, but there is certainly a trend when it comes to her. Some other observations - * - Good to see Dana with Tony Tantillo today - they seem to have a good repoire. * - Imagine how Dana must feel? 7 years ago it was the identical 6 pm newscast that aired tonight - her and Maurice - however, it is Maurice that certainly "wears the pants" now. lazynetjunkie 34
I've made an explanation of this a couple times on this site already.. (copy and pasted here) Many talent contracts now dictate how many times someone is willing to be a "fill-in". Some have it in their contracts that they are willing to be a fill-in for only X amount of days a year (otherwise, they would have to be paid extra to do more days). Many, in lieu of taking an altogether pay cut in contract renewal time, go the route of very minimal fill-in or axing fill-in altogether. Most stations now don't call in for a fill-in reporter or anchor when someone is off. If someone was to fill-in anchor, it would have to be someone already scheduled to work that day who is usually a reporter. If that reporter is used as a fill-in anchor, nobody is called in to take that reporter's place so the station would lose out on a report. Calling someone from home is a big no-no nowadays unless it's an "emergency" such as weekend mornings when staffing is extremely bare minimal at the stations because of how contracts work now, the station would have to pay out extra money or overtime. IceManNYR 240
Rob Morrison and Emily Smith are anchoring at 12pm. Has Emily anchored before? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/7219-wcbs-not-using-subs-this-week/#findComment-65772 Share on other sites
