They truly do present the news in a very sophisticated and professional fashion. Not to mention that they have the BEST graphics here in this DMA, so they truly do deserve those awards. They are also a very friendly bunch of people as well. Congratulations to them, they deserve it! :D

Being the Best is not just a phrase, It's a commitment to how determened and confident a TV Station can be when it comes to hard work and excellence. And boy did they prove it.

Way to go WNBC, keep up the good work!!!

I always belive WNBC and WPIX had the best newscasts. Both stations always put professionalism in their newscasts. Even with the NBC cuts and the selling of Tribune. Their newscasts always keeped to a higher bar of news presentation. What you put in a newscast is what you get out. They both deserve these awards.

Did anyone catch GDNY today?... they showed footage of the Emmy ceremonies and Ron Corning and a producer for GDNY thought that they said "Good Day NY" (not "Today in NY") won the Emmy.. They both got on stage, had the Emmy in their hands and then saw the card that said Today in NY, and they ran off and threw the card in the air. So embarrasing but really funny.

They didn't show that part, but what they showed was hilarious. Jodi and Ron congratulated the TINY team though but said they've never watched their show...

Not to be party pooper -- or to degrade the great work done by WNBC ... but local Emmys are not really anything to be proud of. Ask anyone in the industry. They show how your friends in the business feel about you (and also show how much money you or your station are willing to spend to nominate yourself) but are not awards given by an independent board of critics or experts.

One of the most sought after awards in professional broadcast journalism is the Peabody award. WNBC has won a few of these, while WABC has won one. (Also, after ABC News was awarded the Peabody for its coverage of 9/11, Peter Jennings announced that ABC News would be "sharing" the honor with WABC-TV because it was WABC-TV that provided so much of the resources that day for the network.)

Here we go again with you WABC fans, always have to put down other stations, can't even let them have their glory without mentioning WABC. ::)

From the NY Emmy website

"Judges come from local television stations, networks, cable programming services and independent production facilities, and are often themselves Emmy® and other industry award winners. Careful attention is paid to impartial judges who represent a balance of news and programming areas together with various craft disciplines."

And your point about Peabody, so they didn't really win it after all, it was "shared" :D

Funny... the very first sentence of my post reads, "Not to be party pooper -- or to degrade the great work done by WNBC..." How does that put down another station? And how am I not giving credit to other stations when I specifically mention that WNBC has won a few Peabody awards? And, by the way, the Peabody award that ABC News shared with WABC is in addition to an individual Peabody award that WABC won on its own.

You obviously take offense to anything very quickly and do not take time to read through a post which criticizes the local Emmy awards and not the winners of the local Emmy awards. Again, without going off on one of your tangents, ask anyone in the business how much a local Emmy means and they will tell you it means nothing, despite what the PR you pulled from the Emmy website says.

Next time, perhaps, you should thoroughly read a post and think about it before making comments that make yourself look foolish.

I tell this guy this every time that he won't get anywhere with his obsession of hate for WABC. He always seems to have a nasty hatred to everyone who likes and prioritizes WABC, and basically never posts anything relevant to the thread except bashes those who talk or mention WABC. He does not want to hear anything positive about the station. The guy basically looks for trouble most of the time. Anyway just ignore him, its the way he is. Get it through your head, you don't have to like WABC your hatred for the channel will never change the way we view it. Its a free country we have a right to like what we want, express what we want whenever, it shouldn't matter to you. ::D

Yes you said "Not to be party pooper -- or to degrade the great work done by WNBC...". I understand that, but what are you trying to say about WNBC? They way you put it seems that they paid to win the awards: "how much money you or your station are willing to spend to nominate yourself"

If it isn't important, why have it, why make it known to viewers that they've won?

Goodness VLAD shut the f**k up already, always budding in. what an a*hole.
