  1. I am watching FOX29 news at 10pm right now and they are now calling Scott Williams "FOX29 Meteorologist" instead of "Chief Meteorologist"

  2. News flash. Most tv stations rely on the the NWS's Doppler for their use. Very few stations can/have Doppler Radars of their own. I don't know how it's sad that a tv station does not have it's own doppler radar... the reality is, that it's a costly expense to have.

  3. Picking up trash from the freeway just like common criminals...just to get a few extra hours per week. Be sure to wave and honk!

  4. I have a memory of one of my first phone conversations with Hal Brown where I sang the promo song to him and he confirmed it was VTS' work. I'm pretty sure it was the same call where I confirmed WAVY 1985 was VTS. The perfect segue from the top of hour ID jingle (which is based on the promo) into the news open is another point in its favor. Same key, same tempo, same instrumentation. The fact that this promo has Dallas vocals (some of the same singers as TM or JAM) is yet another point in its favor. VTS was headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina, but did the majority of its production in Dallas. I'm pretty confident that WAVY 1985 goes with "You're Covered". (Also, that KENS 1980s goes with "Clearly the One", and we already know WRTV 1990 - not yet ID'ed as VTS at NMSA, but I believe this is either 99.9% or 100% confirmed by us - goes with "Making a Difference".)

  5. Over on eyeontv; there have been quite a few uploads on that channel of late. Uploaded today; here's an August 1978 Klein& demo reel (mostly reruns; but the highlight is a clean cut of the Direct Connection theme at the end) 1978 KFMB Klein& Sampler Reel Early 1980s Klein& Demo Reel

  6. Maybe Lisa Rayam, going to WSB, but Stephany Fisher joining FOX 5 has been speculation, so at this moment until a press release, or somebody close to any camp has any info it just speculation. Erin Coleman going WCAU, it probably true, but if they're trying to save money why not have Jacqueline London anchor all the newscast on WCAU? 4,5,6,11? I guess that unheard in a top 10 market?

  7. Too bad most of the deals involve networks already snapped up by Scripps and Sinclair, and with Bounce, several markets which are just plain percentage-filling without viewer impact. In Green Bay WFRV is getting Bounce TV, which is nearly wholly incompatible with the demographics of Northeast Wisconsin, since Laff, Escape and Grit were already long snapped up. Same with Eau Claire/La Crosse with WLAX/WEUX. It just seems like such a johnny-come-lately deal I'm surprised they didn't also mention any of Luken's networks.

  8. I always pictured Craig to be the heir apparent for Jeff if/when he decides to call it quits. Glad to see he's moving to a WELL-DESERVED Chief spot though. With that being said, 1. Since Craig is the last of the original team on Daybreak, it'll be fun to see the send-off. Hopefully he gets one as big as Lasalle did (considering Lasalle just moved to the afternoons on the same station.) 2. The game of the replacements begins. Iisha to pull 7-days a week of mornings? Or will Evan move out of the shadows and into daytime television...or will we see Jim Lawrence out of retirement (a stretch)...

  9. Tyree lost his son recently (his son played football at my alma mater). I wonder if that had anything to do with his departure.

  11. Your common, ordinary hair dryer (fin dryer in your case) has more power and wattage than any of the in-house systems in that market.

  13. A couple of departures from WATN in Memphis: - Meteorologist Lauren Raymer has left to take a position at the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf. Her last day was June 24th. - Sports anchor Gil Tyree is no longer at the station as of this week. One of his final appearances on air was covering and doing play-by-play for the Memphis Tigers' Basketball Alumni Game last weekend.

  14. Even though that's what they may do, I think it's overkill. How about moving Extra to one of those time slots, or more news?

  15. How bout yet another episode of Judge Judy? Basically, WNCN will air it four times: 9:00, 9:30am, 7:00 and 7:30pm.

  17. Based on the teaser, it looks like it's gonna be Demetrius doing the weather rather than Jim. That's a shame that the entire crew won't be together. I started watching WGN in 1995 when I was 5 years old. Little did I know at the time that it was the first year of that weekend news team. It's been nice of WGN to keep them together for so many years.

  18. The landmark doppler balls that TV stations own(ed) and used to flaunt in marketing long ago are almost as extinct as helicopters and editorials. Lest we forget the problems of being inside of a "doppler dead zone" And all of the benefits of Doppler 4000 crammed into a concise 3 minutes of promo gold...

  19. Fin Dryer? Is that some kind of shark slur? My brothers gave up their fins for your soup! So basically they are about 1200 watts? That's pretty sad.

  20. Does any one think Rahel Solomon is a good anchor?

  21. Totally agree. I honestly think Joe Holden, the new reporter they got like 3 weeks ago should anchor. He filled in for Jim on Memorial Day and was great.

  22. Great graphics. However, this video shows two big problems with CBS3: 1. I feek like Brooke Thomas tries too hard and it doesn't seem genuine. At the 0:29 second mark, her "uhhhhh" seems forced. The sad part is, she's the better anchor of the morning pair. Don't get me started on Jim. 2. Looking at both videos, Ukee and Jim are both off. Their subs: Rahel Solomon and Nicole Brewer (who by the way are both very capable anchors in their own right). This station is lacking a male bench. Ukee is their main male anchor, and the only other male is Jim, who probably belongs on weekend mornings (and that's being gracious).

  23. From a TV perspective, this tells me that neither station in Charlotte has their own Doppler. I mean seriously, if you need to rely on NWS Radar, then that means you don't have a Doppler radar of your own and that's pretty sad, especially for a big market like Charlotte. From an NWS perspective, I think there should be a radar in Charlotte. Every major metro area has one that covers is specific area.
