  1. Sorry for the double post. WTVR on Facebook: "No that is not true Roly. CBS Evening News at 6:30 is not going anywhere." I hope that answers your question.

  2. Two comments: 1. In real life, I joke around about what a great environmentalist I am. I use both sides of copy paper, and I don't throw anything away which still has a use. In other words, I'm cheap. I can't believe there isn't some way to give some face time to all the high priced talent with the high "Q" ratings -- it is environmentally sound. Hell, Yolanda is good looking enough that I would have her popping up on WTHR as well. Mike Davis has a great voice, but he looks like a pigged out Howdy Doody; Chris Bradley is just plain dorky and dull. Bill Kelly or Bob Kendrick, on the other hand, would have been much better "gets" than Yolanda, in my opinion. 2. The kids are going to be sorry they let the family dynasty slip away. It sure beats working a day job. But then again, they own plenty of real estate. Maybe that will keep them busy. BREAKING NEWS (EDIT): And speaking of Buchman, it looks like she has roots in the Columbus area. That makes my idea of her doing cameos on WBNS even better! Check out her FB page ... Grandma and Grandpa appear to be from the Newark area. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1315719021784752

  3. Are you suggesting that it's okay to only save one buck when you could possibly save two? Scripps would fire you for such an atrocious statement.

  4. Exactly, if you work for CBS, you don't wanna mess with the Chen. She pretty much did the same thing on The Early Show, it was no coincidence that she was the constant during the majority of that show's run. Content wise, The View and The Talk are far different from each other. I prefer The View because they talk about current events and political affairs.

  5. From around 1983/1984, here is a KOAM-TV news open featuring the classic "Tuesday3" theme and a mention of Brian Williams doing weather - THE Brian Williams currently on MSNBC.

  6. Noticed in my FIOS program guide the other day that WTVR now has a 6:30pm newscast with no mention of CBS-EN at all. While it did air at 6:30 followed by the 7pm news, I wonder if they're planning to bump CBS-EN to 7 after the new year and have a two hour block of local news from 5-7?

  7. The traffic ticker is part of the capital expenditures budget. No new traffic ticker for another 4 years. #itsthescrippsway #storiesthatmatter #givelightandthepeoplewillfindtheirway

At this point this feels like a topic for a @Raymie article...

  9. I noticed on NBC Boston's channel list the Spectrum listing went from "Negotiations Underway" to "TBD". I think they're hunkering down for a battle since it is the last system of note to not come to a deal and when small systems on the fringe are falling like dominoes it says a lot.

  10. All I know is this: If I am the Wolfes and I am paying Angela Buchman $400k a year to do the weather in Indianapolis, I'm going to also figure out how to use her in Columbus on a semi-regular basis. She could do "special reports" on Tornado Safety or other such topics. No offense to anybody who is gay and Chris Bradley is a nice enough guy and all, but I would rather look at her.

  11. Apparently, she may be working out a deal with WBNS, according to FTVLive.... http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2016/12/29/crossing-the-street-in-columbus

  14. From 1990, here is a WOWL 6:30pm news open with Reginald Jones and Chris Field. From 1991, here is a KTTC newscast featuring Frank Gari "Pride Inside" in their news open. But wait there's more...here is a WLUK news close from 1976!!!! You gotta love this clip, because of the classic "Part of Your Life" theme they use in the close. Also, I shared in an earlier reply a WLBT newscast from 1984 via Wilson Stribling. We now take you back to 1976 where we feature a full WLBT newscast from 40 YEARS AGO!!!! The news team at 6pm on WLBT at the time were Walter Saddler (news), Woodie Asaaf (weather) and Charlie MacAlexander (sports).

  15. Yeah, Give Light And The People Will Find Their Own Way. But that light from that Lighthouse is surely sending people in the wrong direction. But yes, that's the Scripps Way.

  16. And a good 4 years later... The traffic ticker is still repeating the same info...every day for the last 4+ years. Go figure.

  18. Many learned tolerance of alternate lifestyles and cultures because of Springer. Others have learned lessons in child rearing and procurement watching Maury. If these shows did not exist, then where would low cost car insurance and bankruptcy lawyers advertise?

  19. And I think that some conveniently forget that the Chenbot was behind the firing of Leah Remini and Holly Robinson-Peete. And the reason why you have so much "stability" on The Talk is because Julie basically controls everything and the other hosts fall in line and don't over-shadow her-- That wasn't the case when Leah and Holly were on.

  20. You do realize that up through the end of Season 9 of the View, they only had two host changes (for the same chair). The Talk has only been around for 7 years, and they've also had two host changes. Let's see how many host changes The Talk goes through by Season 20 if they make it that far. Regardless, both of these shows deserve to be on TV over the other trash I mentioned earlier.

  21. At least The Talk has had a constant cast of hosts... Julie Chen, Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert and Sheryl Underwood. I've watched more of The Talk in the last year than The View in the last 10. That's how good The Talk really is IMO.

  22. The show still does extremely well. It's more entertaining than the boring chatfest over at THE TALK. You want to cancel a show? How about Springer, Maury, or Wilkos? There's no reason for that garbage to be on TV.
