  2. All the PNS stations except WPLG used the same set during the mid 1980s. The same set design was used by WSB and WVEC around the same time, plus WTVF circa early 1990s.

  4. I saw that. I dare say that I still think he has done an overall great job. As for the content of that one report, there is certainly more than one person vetting the content of a news story. If there's blame, it needs to be shared. And, from my point of view, it's certainly not as potentially heinous an ethical crime as keeping a mic and a camera on a distraught woman after she makes it vividly clear that she doesn't want to be filmed, as was the case on CNN this week. Let's face it, when you're flying by the seat of your pants, as these folks are during times like these, fumbles happen. I'll actually argue that I haven't seen anyone really do bad work this week.

  5. It's a great management tool to knock your assumed "Golden Boy" (Muir) down a few notches...just as a reminder as to "who" is in charge. ABC could have said "Just sit this one out Dave...we have it covered..." To which Davids Agent reacts.... "Holy Sh$T"... Good way to make the talent and his agent much less important at contract re-negotiation time. Might even save a few million off the top.

  6. New M&A. Our lovely Eureka station is about to get a new owner. KIEM 3 owners Pollack/Belz is selling the station to Bryan Brady (Redwood Television Partners) for $3.5M. But wait a minute. Don't they currently own CBS station KVIQ? But I find this interesting at the bottom of the paperwork. So could this mean, they're going to "refile" a KVIQ app and apply for a failed station waiver? This would be a first if this happens.

  7. Never put that relationship together, but yeah it's a dead ringer. As for Gil Jimenez, G&G, Graphic Express...they did the KNBC 1985 set that was the basis of so many other sets. There's a clip floating around somewhere of the debut of that set with him explaning the choices. Also apparently the only company really dedicated to set making for most of the 80s. Good article here on the history: http://articles.latimes.com/1998/nov/04/business/fi-39104

  8. Ernie is destroying his legacy with that joke of a show at 6pm. It's ridiculous and awkward. The desk almost makes Ernie seem aloof. Nobody is watching that. I think Ernie is probably out sooner rather than later, and maybe the station is (wrongly) convinced that Greg will be better in the evening this time around... but really Lori would give them such a boost in the evenings.

  9. Scott did filled in for Corey on GDC and may fill in for Kristen when she goes on leave in October. I want to say he has been reassigned to GDC given that Rafer is taking his spot on weekends, but who knows?? Rafer, Larry and Sylvia could help fill the void @ 5P & 9P until they find Jeff's successor (which could still be either Scott or Rafer). They may want to test things out before making a final decision between the two.

  10. Factoid: Gil was a (the) graphic artist at KGTV in the late 1970's. The first KGTV "The News" set had a false ceiling that was actually a facade ceiling attached to a wooden frame...that the camera shot thru during the show close. The "ceiling" or fake facade covered the studio lights.

  11. Katy Tur seems like a nice girl to hang out with. I'm sure she hangs out with Kassie Hunt and Hallie Jackson, but the difference between those gals is Katy, can't read a teleprompter, but she's a good reporter.
