  1. Erin and Keith have been doing 11AM, as well as 4 & 5PM since COVID started. So I'm not sure if Rosemary will go back to 11AM or if she'll stay with weekend evenings.

  2. Found another station that also used the same set WMC used until 1986 and WEWS used until 1981. KTVK in Phoenix. Back then, it was owned by Ernest McFarland's group (later MAC America Communications), whose family and heirs would run the station until its sale to Belo in 1999. The intro and music is much like the ones used by several of the Outlet stations (WCMH, KSAT) and Storer's WAGA. I have to now wonder if the set was another designer outside of Scripps and the package used was syndicated at the time.

  4. This kind of thing has happened before, in the long ago days of CONUS, Florida News Network, and other regional or adhoc consortiums. They are a giant pain, but only until the suits are tired of their big bad bully struts. This will last until there is one huge national breaking news story in a Nexstar market, and the networks are desperate for station video, and stations are desperate for network resources. Then they’ll all grit their teeth, come to some sort of “agreement”, and all get on with more mundane matters. Like logos and crawls.

  5. Hearing from friends at non-affiliated Nexstar stations (particularly WDVM) as well as some at Nexstar fox stations that the whole “no more CNN video” thing is an absolute shit show, as one could expect. They are literally having to take full screen video from tweets from reporters in other cities in some cases, since they have no VO for national stories.

  6. Basically in any transaction, once they get the greenlight, they'll have 90 days to complete the sale. But they can file an "extension of consummation" to go another 90 days. But I don't expect that to happen as I think the sale would be closed way before that, given that it's Nexstar. But don't expect any on air cosmetic changes to happen on the day of closing (other than the Nexstar ID at the end).

  7. Well darn.....here I was hoping they would select someone else other than Nexstar to run their station But really, should this be a surprise to anyone? We saw this coming a mile away.

  8. Good to see some melody back it's a missed branding opportunity for so many shows to use unintrusive music. Would be nice to see GMA bring back the hamlisch signature when things go back to being more lifestyle oriented.

  9. Yes!! Good to have the quasi old theme back. The 1978 version followed by the late 90s/early 00s were my favorite. Now if only we can get John Williams' theme back on NBC's Today.

  10. Nexstar has been pretty quick about changing things over lately. They’ll want that station to shed any Sinclair-isms stat.

  11. Jeff Verszyla will be joining WTAE full time as their weekend evening meteorologist starting October 1st. He's been freelancing at the station since July in the same capacity.

  12. Seems that the longer headlines tease is in favor of shorter, tighter and music-less teases before commercial breaks. Also, the A block stretching to about 18 minutes.

  13. Nice open, but the whole thing is 2 minutes and a half......a little too long if you ask me.

  14. Very surprised to hear the last Jennings-era theme make its return (even though it's a bit different), but also very happy by it's return. Great new open and gfx update too.

  15. Aww, I LOVE they brought back the old theme.

  16. The modernized mixout of the Jennings theme is in the open/close

  17. Is the old Jennings theme just in the open or is it in the teases to commercial and the close as well? Those long form closes with the old music were incredible.

  18. YES! YES! YEEEEEEAAAASSSSS!!!! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! For bringing back that familiar melody (with the ABC News signature of course) from the Peter Jennings era! AND, for getting rid of that Damn Hans Zimmer crap you used since 2012, when Diane Sawyer was at the helm. What a relief and a blessing to hear that Score Productions/Edd Kalehoff theme again.
