  3. It is. Can confirm WAVE has ditched their custom look of a year after the upgrade. Apparently there's still some customization with it (mainly weather it looks like), otherwise it's the standard Gray look. Don't think they're too happy about it.

  4. Thank you!! KLTV + KTRE used the news theme as well and it seemed *really* obvious there'd be a sung something or other. The Non-Stop "USA Package" is listed in ASCAP but with some surprisingly late users that we have never been able to confirm: KJCT, KOAM (which doesn't fit what we do know of their news music history), WAWS and WUSA. It appears to have been made in 1993 or so. Bestor and Sam Cardon (Tamara is his wife) did not join Non-Stop until 1986. I also went into BMI (that's ASCAP) and found a "USA FIRST NEWS PACKAGE" mention, but I dunno if that might have been the USA network or some sort of bridge package with First News.

  5. @TServo2049@newsteam13 The WAFF/KUSA vocal campaigns brought back a memory. I have not heard this one in years. KLTV in Texas used the same vocals. KLTV.... East Texas... USA... We're Proud of You (or) Proud of You. Heard it on a non-stop vocal campaign sampler years ago. Gets confusing here - maybe the vocal campaign preceded, by several years, the news package commission for KUSA in 1995? You can hear melody similarities on the nmsa USA NEWS montage - around :30-:54 and definitely around 1:25 and a few other places. I personally believe the news package was created well before 1995 based upon the sounds and instrumentation which would back up the vocal campaign coming out in the 80's. Hope this may help in the answer, even if I'm wrong.

  6. This happened ten years ago tonight. That's when WPVI placed a circle around the now 53-year old "6" insignia. Vid courtesy of "ekt8750" from YT.

  7. I don't believe it's...new, though? Do you mean this one? (pictures attached below) I screengrabbed this from a July 2020 newscast. And this is from tonight's newscast. But you can also see this very desk in the set's debut promotional, as seen here in December 2019. So someone please correct me here and tell me what I'm missing.

  8. The Class-h room pits two teams from local schools against each other in trivia with a small audience from the schools, all taped on the FOX29 evening set. Pretty much every aspect of that sentence has been upended since the start of the pandemic, which is unfortunate. I appreciate the fact that WTXF has been willing to try out so many locally-produced programs, particularly a game show. I'm a BIG fan of "The Final 5" on sister station WTTG in DC. It airs weeknights at 11:30 with a single host riffing on news stories of the day (typically political) with an interview or two from relevant experts. The FOX29 show sounds like it will be more pop-culture based, but again, I appreciate them trying something local in that slot as opposed to another run of Judge Judy.

  9. CBS still has the Times Square studio where they held their election coverage from.

  10. I don't think so either. But it being on WAFF at the same time as KSL 1989 and seeming to share bits of melody suggests that it's connected to that package in some way, even though KUSA obviously never used it. I can definitely hear the 4-note "COL-or-a-DO"/"AL-a-ba-MA" motif in the news theme. And that song sounds like Tuesday, too.

  11. Hey, that sound awfully familiar. That's the same promo music used by KUSA in Denver during its ABC affiliate years (left for NBC in 1995). It's slogan is Colorado USA...KUSA

  14. Drayton and Holley have been working together more on Good Day recently. If you haven't heard, Mike Jerrick recently tested positive for Covid-19 and will be out for a while. He posted a message on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/CIRBPOLJUjG/?igshid=6gqzj9ocbanx
