  1. WFIE is gonna have to make up their mind on what graphics package to take.

  2. Bring back in-studio wrestling. By the way, Saturday night is typically the least-watched news of the week for most any station. If WKYC is going to do something different, that's probably the spot to try it.

  3. All the Gray Packages can't effectively compete with the competition.

  4. Which GM/ND/CSD looks at the honeycomb package and says, “That’s the package I want for us!” ??? It immediately looks so dated. Straight from the 1970s or 1980s.

  5. Lori Stokes will be out for an extended period of time as she spends her last days with her mother. Thoughts go out to Lori and her family. Mike Woods also announced this morning he will be out for 3 weeks due to back surgery. We’re down to three anchors - one for each regular show, Bianca, Rosanna and Steve. Lots of OT going.

  7. Amanda Starrantino recently left WRTV and heads west to KPIX as Morning and Noon anchor. She replaces Michelle Griego who left a few months ago to head back home to KCNC where she previously worked.

  8. I agree that Access Hollywood was never the best fit for her. I feel like she's more of a hard news journalist, but NBC was trying to make her do more entertaintment and celebrity news instead of hard news like she was doing on TODAY as the newsreader.

  9. Natalie Morales is officially leaving Today. https://www.today.com/popculture/natalie-morales-leaving-today-after-22-years-nbc-t232872?cid=sm_npd_td_fb_ma&fbclid=IwAR00uQ9slLvHOUvDTPh_S_i79yR4X2bbm1PLF7Emmic3N3OPRvAel1spW40 SN: this to me is more of her contract was up because she really wasn’t a mainstay of Today essentially for 4 years.

  10. There's plenty of other options in town for local news at 11 on a Saturday. Why do the same thing with the same stories as your competitors? Why not try something different as a lead in to a popular network comedy sketch show? Local stations used to produce all kinds of programming... comedy, music, etc... why not go back to that? Why does a local station just have to purely be a news operation? If audiences and revenue are shrinking why is it such a bad idea to try something else?

  12. I don’t want NewsNation to fail either. In fact, a year ago I pointed out that people were calling for NN to shut down, but nobody was calling for Newsy to shudder even though their cable numbers were lower. Just because I make a joke about their crummy set doesn’t mean I’m bashing them. I actually think the idea behind Abrams’ show is great: a host that respects people with other opinions, instead of calling them stupid. The problem is that isn’t NewsNation’s original mission: to bring a straight news program on cable. Instead it’s now the same type of content people already get elsewhere, just less rabid. Another problem is that their primary medium is cable TV. My parents cancelled their cable, and I'm not paying $60/month for Youtube TV or Hulu Live, just for the channel to get pulled during an inevitable Nexstar retrans fight. Cable TV is a declining business. Why do you think Newsy is prioritizing streaming and over-the-air? It's good they post a bunch of their stuff on Youtube to make it more accessible, but unfortunately their cable channel is coming first, which isn't great for growth. As for their website, SimilarWeb, a website analytics company, says NewsNation's site gets over 1 million total visits a month. Some of Nexstar's stronger stations, like KHON, WHNT, and WREG, get around 2 million. However, those stations have been around for decades, and NN is only one year old, so that million is nothing to scoff at.

  13. They went to commercial after Sunny and Ana were pulled on air. The previous commenter was suggesting they could have pulled Sunny and Ana during a commercial break and returned with just Joy and Sara. Don't know exactly what the show's processes were but I assume the Secret Service was calling at least some of the shots at that point.
