  3. Gray holds a trademark on the “First Alert Weather” branding. It was Raycom’s brand and Gray inherited it and that’s why so many Gray stations have switched to using it.   4. The second one is a specific service mark for the National Captioning Institute. It must be the case that NCI did not caption Cosby but captioned Family Ties (I found a 1986 newspaper article mentioning they captioned the latter).

  6. Sad news from Louisville and Kentuckiana. Former longtime WAVE 3 and WHAS 11 News anchor Melissa Forsythe has passed away of natural causes just before her 72nd birthday. Forsythe joined WAVE 3 (NBC) as a reporter in 1972, then moved to the anchor desk till 1979. She later joined WHAS 11 (Then CBS, Now ABC) that same year, and had a 12-year run as the stations the 5:30 & 11pm anchor with co-anchors, Frank Hudson, Jim Mitchell, and Gary Roedemeier. Forsythe left Kentuckiana's NewsChannel in late '91.
