  1. I’m sure if there was they would’ve had an O&O over satellite or someone from WABC hop in.

  2. NBC Nightly News (1991) my favorite of their various newsroom world map backgrounds. Love that the background changes based on shot, so studio segments dont look monotonus. Third image: I'm surprised the background had depth. I assumed it was flat and we'd see the newsroom from that angle.

  3. Well, when you consider that it was a legendary image campaign launched by WFAA-TV almost 35 years ago, and it's been going strong almost as long on WNIR with very little change....

  4. "The Spirit of Akron! On W - N - I - R" is without a doubt the closest thing to an anthem here in Northeast Ohio. Change my mind. And oh god, is that WGN ripoff of "Nothing But Class" painful to listen to.

  5. Good question. While being out in the field and telling stories might be more fulfilling, it can also be exhausting having to constantly be on the move in whatever weather, looking for people to talk to, and writing a story in time to be edited for air in a few hours. Traffic reporting is essentially an anchor-type job in a comfortable studio, laughing around with the other anchors, being part of the "team," and getting lots of face time. Everyone has different preferences but I would imagine most on-air talent aspire to end up in the studio.

  6. I often wonder how the reporters who are moved to traffic feel about doing it, and whether they wouldn't rather be out in the field reporting. Obviously in this case it's just temporary, but WCBS had both Jenna Deangelis and Natalie Duddridge on traffic before getting rid of the spot on their morning news.
