  1. Wirtz and Reinsdorf wouldn’t need to start entirely from scratch. They could feasibly buy out Comcast’s 25% share of NBCS Chicago and they’d have their own RSN. Given that Comcast can’t find a buyer for their RSNs (since they aren’t in demand,) this would be an easy way for Comcast to sell one of them. Both sides would essentially get what they want.

  2. WVUE evening anchor Kim Holden announced her retirement during the 5 pm newscast today. She started at the station in 1988 as an intern, then worked her way up to the evening anchor desk, where she has been for the past 12 years. Her retirement is effective in a couple of weeks. I believe Angela Hill has been an anchor in New Orleans longer than she has. *Man, I'm getting old. The New Orleans market is losing another giant in local TV news* Kim Holden announces retirement after 34 years at Fox 8

  4. I bet this is less about a rigid programming schedule for their staff and more to do with cable operators agreements. As news programming has grown, the "general entertainment" programming from WGN America's original format has shrunk. Most old school contracts have a minimum number of hours that must be dedicated to the channel's stated programming purpose. So while I think NewsNation probably would have liked to cover it - and certainly had the resources to given the availability of a clean feed - I bet they couldn't afford to lose 3+ hours of their entertainment schedule. Ultimately this is one of the biggest problems for this channel. The need to still fulfill old carriage agreements while trying to take on a new mission. At some point they need to go all in if they are going to try to be a full-service news network.

  5. "Oh sorry, the news isn't happening during our regular news programming schedule, so we're not covering it." lol

  6. Here's a behind the scenes photo they showed today, in tribute to the director who is leaving. Really sad what the quality of this show has become.

  7. Time to blow the dust off this thread. The weather graphics are almost always the canary in the coal mine, the fist sign of changes. These debuted at 4pm, and they align with all new graphic teases I've seen, from the colors, to the font, to even the little arrows that appear in a few spots. Nice reminder: if anyone quotes this post, please remove the screenshots from the quotation box.
