  1. I really think Tegna needs to lay low on any future M&A takeovers for a good while.

  2. Those shows have very high production values. The CW's crop doesn't.

  3. While one big M&A was terminated last night, another deal is about to reach the finish line...... Nearly seven weeks after filing the paperwork, the FCC has greenlighted this WBBH deal.

  4. The “wake up with..” is not too new, but updated to have Ken edited out. A more recent promo (“a new day is a new start! Start new with…”) has also been edited to remove Ken. crazy idea: I think WABC shouldn’t replace Ken and should instead elevate Heather and Sam to co-anchors. Go the route of GMA with three anchors and just have Heather and Sam trade off some of the stories with Shirleen being the main “news” person.

  5. I'm interested in them too. I'll buy them. Talk is cheap. Sinclair obviously saw its stations as being more lucrative than the Tribune stations, or it would have gotten rid of them and completed the Tribune transaction.

  6. That didn’t take long. Byron Allen is already saying he’s interested in TEGNA.

  8. In his second message to the company today, Dave Lougee criticized the FCC for not acting on a vote. However, he also said that the decision to sell off WFAA, KVUE, and KHOU was not the original Tegna board's idea and implied they didn't want to lose those stations. He also said that Tegna is not for sale and has no plans to put itself up for sale, but if someone came along asking to buy they would listen. The most interesting thing: starting in July, all regular hourly employees will start making $20/hr, meaning the company minimum wage will be $20/hr. Not certain, but that might make them the highest paying hourly wage in the business. Nexstar is $15 and Gray is $18.

  9. The former News Director and lead Anchor at KMEG/KPTM (Sioux City) was hired as the News Director at KTIV (the position was open at the time and Gray took advantage). It's the first major pickup of someone laid off from Sinclair because of their cuts.

  11. WADL has a talk News show, don’t know if a full fledged news department would work especially with the recent addition of WWJ CBS News Detroit. But go for it WKBD losing CW they can take the 10pm news legacy.
